Hussain out; Kumkum at crossroads

"The decision is not in my favour, so I am definitely feeling bad about it!" says a disturbed Hussain who is very upset about the decision taken by Kumkum's production house to end his character to further the storyline. According to BAG films the story of this four year old family drama now demands an infusion of fresh air. The current track currently shows Sumit suffering from brain tumour (deja vu! even Jatin played by Anuj Saxena was brooking from the same disease!).
Rajesh Chadha, supervising producer, BAG films clarifies, "The serial has been centralizing the Sumit-Kumkum love story since long, so we intend to move away from that now. We are not 100 per cent sure about this decision, but it is definitely under consideration. The reason being, Kumkum will now be seen in a new light altogether. We will try and focus on Kumkum's state post Sumit's demise and how she all alone handles life." And now the focus will be on.......? "Well post leap too, the show was Kumkum-Sumit centric, and we couldn't do much with the new generation which has a lot of potential. So now we will be concentrating on building the tracks around the fresh faces, " asserts Rajesh. Has the equation between BAG Films and Hussain turned sour? " I would like to make one thing very clear, we will be parting ways with Sumit not Hussain. He is open to our other projects, which also includes films!" Here's Hussain version of the story, who has taken it well but does feel bad about the same. "I am agitated about this decision as it goes againt me. I was informed about it but haven't discussed this with them yet. I am very practical about such things and will overcome this soon. We are players after all, and have to play as we are directed." Hussain has no intentions of requesting the production house to alter their decisions, "I believe in my work, and will never interfere with the creatives unless and until they ask for my opinion." On being asked if he would do another BAG project in future, he affirmatively says, "Yes, why not?" Though BAG films is in the process of penning a major twist in the track, Rajesh terms it as 'experimention'. "Whenever we have tried to do something different and shift attention from Sumit-Kumkum love angle, it has not worked for us. But we won't shy away from trying out something new this time!" says Chadha. "We will be concentrating on building the tracks around the fresh faces"-Rajesh Chadha Kumkum has been a quintessential family drama which has ruled the afternoon slot since quite some years. It initially started with Jatin-Kumkum love track which diverted to Jatin's brain tumour and then his death. Later Sumit (Jatin's brother) tied knot with his bhabhi, Kumkum. Though the story revolved around the main protagonist Kumkum, Sumit too played a crucial role in this daily. Another major twist was brought in with Jatin's comeback and the viewers were hooked to watch Kumkum's dilema who was caught between in her past and present. After surviving 778 episodes, the show finally gave in for a standard 20 year leap. Considering the show being experiment proof, the makers are still game to play around with the most dicey aspect (of Sumit's death) which may or may not work in their favour. Is it to create the same hysteria that Mihir's death in Kyunkii....created? Will the show witness a comeback for Sumit like Jatin did? Or will a new man find place in Kumkum's life?
