She is all set to put 70mm on fire with her upcoming flicks namely Gulabi Gang and Dedh Ishqiya. But before that she will be seen weaving magic on tube as a judge on Colors’ Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (JDJ) Season 6 (BBC Productions). Yes, we are talking about the ever charming and scintillating Madhuri Dixit Nene. And the lovely lady is dabbling with many other things other than films and TV shows. Listen ftom her: “As you know I have an online dance studio with 25,000 plus students already enrolled. So, www.dancewithmadhuri.com is an interactive and game-i-fied medium for the viewers to learn dancing. At the moment there are two dances on the website. Those are Maini Maini and Ek, Do, Teen. With this viewers just don’t get to learn dance, but they can also record themselves dancing and then upload the same on the site. This helps their relatives and friends to watch them. Plus it also helps them stay connected with friends on Facebook and Twitter.” It’s connection with JDJ? “We have associated the website with JDJ. So every week, you can learn seven new steps that will be taught on JDJ. Later, you can record and upload those on the website. If the performance is good, the person gets a reward; if it’s better, he/she gets to be on Jhalak and if it’s the best they get to dance with me. So, Jhalak, this season, is not just about celebrities but also about the aam aadmi.” The actress has also managed to shed a lot of weight. Hence, we asked her if it’s especially for JDJ, to which she replied, “It’s to be healthy and look good on-screen as camera always adds to your weight. Plus, I am in a profession where one has to look good. Hence, I have started looking after myself. It’s just that I eat healthy and workout.” Since, Madhuri is a mother of two, we also asked her as to how she manages time between work and kids. “I think every working lady manages time, the way I do. It’s just that when you have kids you have to be more organised. For example, I plan out my days and do not take up any work on days when I am supposed to be spending time with my kids.” Furthermore, talking about her favourite dancers from the current crop in the industry, she tells us, “I love the way Hrithik (Roshan) dances and recently, I danced with Ranbir Kapoor (Ghagra-Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani); I think that he is a fantastic dancer. The energy he gets on the floor is amazing. Talking about the girls, I like Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma’s moves. I think they all got their own style.” When asked to rank herself as a dancer, she answered, “I am a big critic of myself; so it’s hard to give marks to myself. After a particular shot, I always feel that I could have done a lot better.” As we all know that Madhuri is the Indian dancing queen but there is still a dance form she wants to master in. “I want to learn ‘tap dancing’. I did a bit of it in an awards show, but when I watch Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire dancing, I feel I have a long way to go.” Currently, Maduri’s song Ghagra is grabbing all the attention. Therefore, we asked her if her kids too compliment her to which she blushingly stated, “They are too young. It’s just that when they watched me on TV the first day, they came running to me and said, ‘Mom you’re on TV’. Just seeing me on TV makes them happy (laughs).” Do they like dancing too? “They love dancing, but it’s too early to judge if they would like it as a profession,” ends she.
