Alekh Sangal, who essays the role of Sambhav in Star Plus’ Suhani Si Ek Ladki (Panorama Entertainment) has received a lot of flak in the last few days, after his character turned negative in the show.

Alekh who has earlier been part of shows Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara, Yum Hai Hum and Gustakh Dil, says that the personal attacks on him from loyal fans of the show have been really unsettling. However, the actor is happy with all the recognition. “See, the whole intention was to invoke such a reaction. A plot cannot be allowed to remain static for a long time. Hence a new element was brought in with the entry of my character. And a love triangle was always on cards and something was going to happen. Yes, with Yuvraj and Suhani getting separated, the twist has been major. But one should understand that there’s a plan to it, and viewers need to hang in for a while, as this track will lead up to something eventually, “says Alekh.

Alekh recently took to Instagram too, to tell the loyal fans of the show to wait patiently. “I am looking forward to the new challenge as it will bring a new perspective to the character. In Pyaar Ka Dard, I started as a negative character but went on to become positive. Here it is the other way around. The character of Sambhav turning negative brought in huge shock elements. There’s a nice story put in place for the future, and I will be having a good time as an actor. I want people to hate me, not just for the situation but also for how it is performed. I am ready to face the backlash. And the more backlashes I get after the love that I have got, will ensure the success of this track. The more I am hated, the more people will long for a Yuvraj-Suhani reunion.”

Having said this, the Suhani Si Ek Ladki journey has been really funny for Alekh. “When I entered, Sambhav got loads of support as he came into Suhani’s life at a time when she had nobody. Viewers actually wished that Sambhav and Suhani got together, as Yuvraj had left her. However when the character of Yuvraj was made a bit sympathetic, everything turned around. See, this is the part and parcel of the game. I take it with a pinch of salt and will want to push it further and make my performance believable. To tell you, this is a gamble that we are taking. But I am proud of the fact that the show is taking a gamble, and not play it safe by showing mehendi, sangeet functions for the longest time possible. I am lucky to be in a position where I get to experiement like this. It is a happy time for the actor in me. I am totally enjoying it. I am keeping my fingers crossed.”
