I am waiting to see my name as a producer on the silver screen: Srman Jain

Srman Jain
Not many turn movie producers at 26 but there are always exceptions and Srman Jain of Saas Bina Sasural fame is one of them. Yes, the actor who had gone missing on the acting front for a while now – his last being Sony Entertainment Television’s Adaalat – was busy producing a Marathi film titled Janiva which means awakening. Well, it all worked out for him on the sets of Adaalat when the director of the show Rajesh Ranshinge read out a script to him. “I instantly fell in love with the story and started arranging things and people to put this work on celluloid,” said Srman. However, the film is not his first step into production. He first produced an ad film. “A few people from my hometown approached me for an ad film. They basically wanted me to help them with an ad person but I planned to take up the project,” stated the actor with a smile. Talking about his film he averred, “We started shooting for the movie sometime in September 2013 and it’s set to release in September this year. It’s a very bright film in Marathi cinema with rock music in the offering. It’s also a mix of fun and patriotism more like Rang De Basanti.” Tell us a bit about the cast. “Satya Manjrekar, Renuka Shahne, Kishor Kadam, Kiran Karmarkar, Atul Parchure and Aishwarya Sakhuja. Daler Mehendi has sung in Marathi for the first time ever. My very close friend Neha Kakkar too has sung in this film.” The actor-producer also gives credit to most of his industry friends for his producer status. “They’ve supported me so much especially Ravi (Dubey) and Sargun (Mehta). Even when there were people criticising and telling me I should focus on acting they were constantly boosting me. God sent them for me and if I’ve learnt anything today it is because of them.” The list of people backing the artist does not end here, “Karan Wahi is someone who is least concerned about the world but he made it a point to be there for my film’s music launch at 2 am in his pyjamas. He was just out of his sets and did not have the time to dress but then he was there. Ronit Roy couldn’t make it but he apologised for the same and wished me luck. There are others like Rithvik (Dhanjani), Asha (Negi) and Gurmeet (Choudhary) who have been there for me throughout in this journey. In fact, even Vipul Shah was there for my film’s muhurat. He explained how I should go about things and also told me that I could get in touch with him in case I ever needed anything.” In fact even Akshay Kumar wished him luck with his film. “I worked with Akshay during Desi Boyz so when my film was ready I went on the sets of Shaukeen and showed him the DVD. At first he asked me to say the truth for he did not believe that I produced the film, but on learning about the same he introduced me to everyone on the sets.” Furthermore, an overjoyed Srman confessed, “I am waiting to see my name as a producer on the silver screen.” What about acting? “I am looking at meaty roles at the moment.” We wish you luck with your film Srman.
