I didn't want to do the same stuff on television, so decided to take a break: Vikas Manaktala

Vikas Manaktala
Vikas Manaktala, who is returning to TV screen with Sony Entertainment Television’s Main Na Bhoolungi (Beyond Dreams) after a long hiatus, looked excited at show’s launch party held recently (23 December) where the first episode of the show was also screened. The episode, which saw Vikas making a dhamekedar entry somewhere at the end will have him playing Sameer opposite the pretty Aishwarya Sakhuja. Tellychakkar.com got talking to the handsome guy about the show and his comeback. “To start with, I play this loving guy who is a very caring son and husband. Although I believe that by now people know that mine is not a positive character (winks), it is also not a completely negative role either. It has a lot of shades and people will surely enjoy watching this thrilling show,” informs Vikas. And when we ask the actor as to what kept him away from TV for so long, he smiling replies, “After a successful stint with Left Right Left, I realised that TV shows then had become formula-oriented. I say this because every show was showing a similar track and I didn’t want to do the same stuff. Thus I went back to modeling, ads and was just having a good time.” So what made him choose this show as his comeback vehicle? “Firstly it was because of my producer Yash (Patnaik). I consider him as my elder brother and when he called me I just could not say ‘no’. After that when he narrated me the concept, I realised that this was the best I can get to make a return to TV. And then it being a finite series of six months, the show will have a pacy script and will definitely not drag the storyline as normally shows do,” answers Vikas. And finally when we asked him what was that one thing which makes him say ‘main na bhoolunga’, he smilingly averred, “I will never forget that I am loved so much by my family and my fans. It’s so overwhelming that even when I was not around for so long they have always been there and are supporting and loving me like always. A big thank you to all of them,” signs off the handsome hunk. Well Vikas, welcome back to TV and hope you have a great stint with this show.
