I have never been awarded for my work: Jaya Bhattacharya

Jaya Bhattacharya
Jaya Bhattacharya, the talented actress, is a lady who works on her own terms with utter confidence. In a recent conversation with Tellychakkar.com, the lady opened up certain facts about her professional as well as her love life. Talking about the character she played in the short film Madam Aur Chotu which released a few months ago, Jaya said, “The short film was directed by Ravi Goswami. Surprisingly the short film was based on a funny forward and we used it as a base for our storyline, we put in some serious stuff and welded it with a meaning. Finally the short film was shot and made with a vigorous impact on the people and to top it all it actually worked.” The actress has displayed her talent in many historical and mythological serials, but she feels that she bagged the role in the short film owing to her command over the language. “Many feel I bagged it because of my stern appearance but because I am a good actress I got it, and above all I have a good command over my language. I believe in improving my speech and the way I talk has a potential impact over the audience. It’s also because of my versatility and the fact that I can take on any role is one of my strongest abilities.” When asked about her experience working in serials like Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi to movies like Devdas she said, “I have been lucky (laughs). I was always confident about my work and I took on every challenge that came my way. I had structured myself in such a way that when I came to Mumbai I not only brought with me confidence but also hope.” So what about the quality of the current shows airing in terms of content nowadays. “I think the serials boil down to the same saas-bahu stuff with their twists and turns. With the idea of keeping high trps in mind, the entire story changes which leads to the disinterest of the audience viewing the episodes. So in terms of content it’s different and very modern.” She even spoke to us about her dream role and also whether she faces any insecurity. “I’ve always wished to play the role of a blind person. As I mentioned earlier I look forward getting to the bottom of a setback and overcoming it with great struggles. I feel that acting like a blind person is a difficult task to do and so I would want to give that a go. As far as insecurity is concerned, I have never felt insecure. I am good at what I do and happy with what I have done so far and hence I am satisfied. Surprisingly I have never been awarded for my work but people have remembered my dialogues in the movie Lajja, what else can I ask for.” She further went on to say, “I have never prepared when the scripts are given to me, and neither did I learn acting. Everything comes naturally because most of the times I do what I feel. I have a face that talks for me and my work.” She certainly has sorted out her priorities about her love as well as her personal life. “I don’t want to lead a love life since I have no time for it. I want to accomplish many goals before I die (giggles) and I don’t want to waste any time. I have nothing much to say about this.” And finally she spoke to us about her role as Baijee in Madhubala-Ek Ishq Ek Junoon airing on the channel Colors. “I do play the role of Baijee and I am completely enjoying with all my co-actors, they are absolutely fun to work with. We are from Madhya Pradesh and in my family the men have an upper hand in all the decisions. Women have no say in any house hold matters,” said the courteous Jaya. Wish you luck, Jaya!!
