A page from the personal diary of Rohit Purohit We all have someone very special in our life so when we lose them it’s the biggest loss ever. Three years ago when my grandmother expired the world had almost stopped for me for she was everything for me, even more than a mother to me. I remember my sister and I were always close to our grandmother. Every time we came back from school we would get to eat good food prepared by her. We stayed around her all day long. She used to feed us with her own hands, bathe us and put us to sleep. On days when she wouldn’t be around we wouldn’t eat food or do anything. The attachment and the bond we shared with her were very strong. She was the one to motivate me and make me confident enough to make my mark in Mumbai. It’s because of her blessings I am here. Back home I was a production assistant and would be in most of the films around there. I did a few print ads and a few modeling assignments too and while I was doing it I was selected as the most photogenic face and also given a Rs 45,000 portfolio. Later I came with the same portfolio to Mumbai. Here I was offered the role of younger Akbar in Jodha Akbar but they realized I was growing up fast and no more fitted the role so I worked as an assistant to Ashutosh Gowariker on the sets of Jodha Akbar and in a few scenes I also worked as Hrithik Roshan’s body double. What I am trying to say is it’s because of my grandmother’s constant support and blessings I have reached this far in my career. Without her nothing would have been possible. I miss her even today, she was like the wind beneath my wings.
