I personally feel that an actor gets a chance to explore a lot in the television world - Amit Bhatt

Amit Bhatt
Through his conscientious and energetic performance as Dadaji aka Champak Lal Gada in SAB TV’s Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (Neela Telefilms), Amit Bhatt has enthralled the audience and made a place in the hearts of viewers of all age groups. In a candid chat with Tellychakkar.com, the veteran actor talks about his experience in this industry and more particularly this show. Being a part of the television and theatre industry for long, Bhatt is of the opinion that the TV industry has much more to offer in terms of opportunities than theatre. “If I had to choose between theatre and TV, keeping in mind my comforts, I would definitely choose the former. Firstly, if one makes a mistake on TV, we have the leisure of a retake. Moreover, I personally feel that an actor gets a chance to explore a lot in the television world,” he avers. Amit, who has been a part of many Gujarati plays, claims that as an actor his strength lies in doing comedy as it comes very naturally to him. “Comedy as a genre has started evolving because the stress level has increased amongst people. After finishing their work, all that people want is to watch something that can have a relaxing effect on them and comedy, as all know, is a stress buster. As a matter of fact, if my shoot culminates and I have some time left in my hand, I watch Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah as it makes me laugh too,” Bhatt observes. “Talking about actors doing comedy, I really cannot differentiate between good and bad acting as there are lot of good actors sitting at home while the others are being offered shows; it is all a game of destiny,” he adds. On a lighter note, ask this talented personality if he initially thought that Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah would be such a super hit, Bhatt shares with a smile on his face, “When this show got going, I along with other cast members used to discuss as to what should be our way of working so that the show has a minimum run of two years. But the response this show has generated is unimaginable and phenomenal.” Recalling a past memory he shares, “There was an episode where Gokuldham society experienced water-shortage. The shot was such that there would be a force of water coming on me. We rehearsed for two and a half hours to get this shot right as it was a one-take shot or else it would be called off. We thankfully managed to pull it off and all of us rejoiced after that. It was the most memorable incident which I shall hold with the show for my lifetime.” Bidding adieu to his fans, Bhatt phrases out a line that reads: “Sab ke life mein problems hai…sirf Nazariye ki baat hai.” Job well done as Champak, Amit!!!
