I will remain loyal to the brand Dance India Dance: Geeta Kapoor

Geeta Kapoor
Geeta Kapoor is back on Zee TV’s DID L’il Masters Season 3 (EsselVision Productions) and this time she plans to simply have fun with the little ones. Interestingly, she also has new co-judges (Ahmed Khan and Mudassar Khan) this time around. Do you liking Ahmed and Mudassar as your co-judges, we ask her. “My comfort zone is Terence (Lewis) and Remo (D’souza). My favourite is Marzi (Pestonji), I love him and I miss him. Ahmed (Khan) sir is my senior, so it’s an honour to sit next to him. He has come on my show but I have a lot to look up to him. He has done more films than I have watched. Mudassar (Khan) is like a little brother who I’d like to beat everytime he opens his mouth. I feel like controlling him a bit at times; but he is himself and so we let him be him. The judges’ change but the show is so mine. After all I have Dada (Mithun Chakraborty) with me,” confesses she. When a person does the same task over and over again, the person reaches a point of saturation. Thus, one must invent and re-invent to find interest in the regular. So, what is it that keeps bringing Geeta back on DID? “In season one, two and three we had the ownership as we choreographed. In, L’il Masters I was free. There wasn’t much than handling the kids tenderly. In Super Moms there wasn’t much to do, so it was simply good entertainment. DID Doubles, we choreographed but it was different from earlier versions. It was lot more challenging and taxing. But I enjoy every bit of what I do on DID. Everything about this show is beautiful.” A few parrot trained kids do annoy the choreographer. “No kid knows what’s right and what’s wrong. I was recently shooting a promo with one of the kids and he came up to me and said, ‘mein kal shooting kar raha tha, aaj shooting kar raha hoon, aur kal shooting karunga par mujhe aapke saath pic kichwane ka mauka nahi milega’. Something about that kid’s tone told me that it wasn’t him talking and I asked him, who taught him this. And he replied, ‘Mumma ne sikhaya abhi abhi’. Parents plug these in their heads. They feel the kids will get an edge if they do so. I feel, we as the judges on the show can control this in six months of their stay on the show, hence we let go off certain things. In fact, during auditions one child turned around and said, ‘aap maat kaho’ to Mudassar while he was giving his comment. Ahmed reprimanded that child in a sweet yet stern way. Kids are innocent and most of these things are taught by parents,” clarifies Geeta. Speaking further about the attitude of parents, she states, “There are kids who run back happily when we ask them to come next year but their parents start crying.” Though a lot of new children have managed to miff Geeta there is one DID contestant who has always been close to her. “Faizal (Khan) is someone whom I have been in constant touch with. He has grown up. I meet him very often and speak to him every day too. He messages me a good morning daily.” Do you get attached to the contestants easily? “You’re more attached when you choreograph things all the time. With kids there is an attachment till the time they are on the sets, for they will come in the morning, fall on you and also pull your hair. But at the end of the day they disown you and go with their parents,” says Ms. Kapoor with a smile that spreads across her face. Speaking about herself as a judge, she narrates, “It used to be difficult to take decisions earlier on DID, but now I don’t feel like crying when I take a decision. I’ve become stronger.” Lastly, on her association with DID she says, “I have a choice of going out of the show. But I make it my priority, for they have given me what I am today. I am loyal to my bosses and my guru and I will remain loyal to this brand. It has given me a lot to learn.” Way to go Geeta. Keep up the good work!
