Zee TV’s Jodha Akbar is currently the number one costume drama on Hindi GECs and the Programming Head of the channel, Ajay Bhalwankar is ecstatic about this fact. In fact, in a conversation with Tellychakkar.com he stated that he had foreseen this progress, hence the growing numbers of Jodha Akbar is no surprise for him. “We were confident that the show will grow and it is growing,” said Ajay with pride. He further went on to add, “The story is just beginning to take shape as we had to initially see that certain characters get introduced to audiences. Now viewers will get to see Jodha and Akbar getting together.” Will the new twist in the story place Jodha Akbar in the number one position across the GECs? (Star Plus’ Diya Aur Baati Hum is currently the number one show) “The show (read Diya Aur Baati Hum) that’s currently on number one is at its peak, hence there is a propensity of a drop. We are at a high and we will pull it up. So, we will be number one very soon.” How have you been dealing with people who have been accusing Jodha Akbar? “It has happened every time Jodha Akbar has been dealt with, as there are these groups of people who do not accept certain facts. As far as we are concerned, we have spoken to them and have understood their point of view. We have made certain changes in the show accordingly. Though there weren’t any major changes as such, things are clear between us now.” Which show is Jodha’s biggest competition at the moment? “Jodha itself is its biggest competition,” said the head honcho. We tell him that Sony Entertainment Television’s Maharana Pratap too is dealing with an identical concept, and a tough competition can be expected to which he averred, “I don’t think there will be clashes. They are dealing with their shoot, and we are dealing with ours. People who watch both the shows will make comparisons.
