Asha Negi in Jhalak 9? We have more details; read on...

Asha Negi

Gear up for some groovy news!!!

The season of dance is soon set to roll on Colors, and the buzz pertaining to contestants being roped in is on a high.

We are talking about Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa- the dance reality show which has always been an apt mix of glam, glitz and groove.

Tellychakkar.com has learnt that stunning actress Asha Negi (Pavitra Rishta, Nach Baliye) has also been signed by the maker (BBC Worldwide) to set the dance floor on fire this season.

“Asha has a huge fan following and her charm along with her moves will add an interesting flavour to the show,” says a source.

Coincidentally, Asha’s better half, actor Rithvik Dhanjani, participated in an earlier of Jhalak. We are sure Mr Dhanjani will have some interesting tips to share with his lady love.

Moving on, we have also fished out info that Shahid Kapoor will not be a part of the upcoming season and he might be replaced by Varun Dhawan or Ranveer Singh.

Karan Johar and mentor Ganesh Hegde would continue to be part of the series while talks with Lauren Gottlieb (another mentor) are still on.

Post Madhuri Dixit’s exit, the show is still looking for a strong ‘Bollywood figure’ replacement and we hear that the channel is juggling options between Rekha, Aishwarya, Kareena Kapoor or Jacqueline Fernandez.

There is also info coming in that there will be many changes in the choreographer lobby with many old timers making an exit, namely Sneha Kapoor, Dheeraj Bakshi, Deepak Singh, among others.

A source further adds: “Interestingly, this time round each celeb contestant will have to throw in two fresh performances in a week. Reason being if a particular celeb performed during Saturday’s episode, and stayed on the bench on Sunday, his or her fans refrained from watching the show on a Sunday. They want to see their favourite celeb perform both the days. How they will manage to pull off such a task, is what the creatives will have to work on.”

Seems interesting!!!

However, talking about the contestants, there are many Colors’ faces (actors who have previously featured on Colors) this time as well, which could be a boon given the ‘relatability’ factor or a bane given the ‘redundancy’ factor, which only time will prove.

“The channel wants to bring in popular faces from other channels but given the competition around, things are looking a tad difficult. However, the season will certainly be interesting,” adds the source.

When we buzzed Asha, she did not respond till the time of filing the article.

Our efforts to reach out to producer Myleeta Aga and the channel's spokesperson also remained futile.
