Sony Entertainment and Ekta Kapoor go a long way. Many creations of Balaji Telefilms, were aired on the channel like Kkusum, Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai, Kanyadaan, Kuchh Is Tarah, Kuchh Jhuki Palkain, Kutumb, Ghar Ek Mandir; the most recent one being, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain, which has helped Sony to rise up in the TRP race. Come 30 January 2012, another offering from Balaji Telefilms’ will be aired on the channel, Kyaa Hua Tera Vaada at 10 pm. And the head honcho of the production house feels that this show is big challenge: “At a time when post marriage romantic shows have become common, we have taken a big challenge with this series.” Speaking about the concept, she says, “It is a take on married life after 10 years of marriage, when love takes a back seat and other things become more important. This is the time when the wife does not look that pretty anymore and husband is busy with work.” She adds that her new daily questions the age old theory that romance is the best post marriage, “or whether it remains as fresh given that both the parties take time away from kids and the daily routine. We wish to bring into focus the promise that both the bride and groom had taken on the wedding day that they will be together forever not just as a family, but as man and wife,” says this 35 year old who is yet to find her Mr Right. Not only this, she also rubbishes the rumours that the concept of this show, is similar to David Dhawan's film Biwi No 1: “You can’t base a show on a film for the former is all of three hours, while a daily is not limited in hours. You might see find similarities to many other films, but my show is in no way linked to Biwi No.1.” But since this show starts with ‘K’, does this mean that Ekta has gone back to her old days? Ekta, however, strongly denies the connection, and says that she loved the title, “as it is reminiscent of an age gone by. So when you hear the opening line of the track you will immediately connect with the above concept.” The show will have Pawan Shankar and Mona Singh as the lead pair. And Ekta is all praises for her female lead. “The reason why I chose Mona is that she is young and a very good actress, and there are very actors with this combination. She can perfectly play the character of a 28-29 year old woman who got married early and whose life revolves around her family and is very happy to be in that zone.” But having said that, Ekta also reveals that it was difficult to convince Mona. “It was not easy to get Mona to end her 6 year sabbatical from fiction shows. I had to chase her for four months, before she finally said yes,” smiles Ekta. All is well, that ends well, Ekta.
