The concept of elder men romancing younger women has always been incorporated in the plots of Hindi television shows. But things tend to get a little uncomfortable when a grown up man has to romance a 14 year old girl. Well, we are talking about the love affair between young Avika Gor (Roli) and Manish Raisinghania (Siddhant) in Sunrise Productions’ Sasural Simar Ka (Colors). So does Manish feel a little uncomfortable coochie-cooing with Avika, who is still a kid? “I am an actor and if I am asked to even romance a piece of wooden board; I will be okay with it. In fact, there are times when I rehearse my romantic scenes with my assistant director whose mouth remains filled with tobacco, and I am fine with it,” laughs Manish. He continues, “Initially, when I learned that I was getting paired opposite Avika, I was a bit shaken. My first reaction was like do I have a child opposite me. I have seen Avika running around at award functions. But when I started working with her, I realized that she is a fantastic actress and she knows her scenes well.” Not only Manish, but even his fans were also a bit worried with this “odd” pairing. “They were apprehensive but now they like watching us. While other shows have dropped in numbers due to IPL, Sasural is still climbing the chart.” And he shares a great rapport with Avika off screen as well, “She is a child and I have a child in me too so we keep doing a lot of masti on the sets. We keep playing pranks. At work level, we improvise a lot and give our hundred percent to develop the right kind of chemistry.” Finally, he ends by sharing this fact about his personal life. “I am dating my work.
