After Meiyang Chang who got a chance to work in a Yash Raj film, now it’s the turn of Manit Joura, another TV actor who has done shows like Aaja Mahi Vay and 12/24 Karol Bagh, to do a YRF film with Anushka Sharma and debutant Ranveer Singh. The film, directed by Maneesh Sharma, is based on a story that revolves around two friends Shruti (Anushka ) and Bittoo (Ranveer) who start out as wedding planners after passing out from the Delhi University. And Joura is playing Ranveer’s close bud. Says the actor, visibly excited, "I am playing a video recordist in the film. It may sound quite insignificant, but apparently the role is quite important in the film. It is a small role but refusing it would have been a foolish thing to do coming from the biggest film production house in India.” So how did he get lucky? "The story of how I got the offer is filmi. I was riding my sports bike without a helmet and stopped near the India Gate signal. All of a sudden, a person from inside a car which was standing next to me, rolls down the glass and asks me if I was an actor and when I nodded, he introduced himself as a casting director of YRF. We exchanged numbers and could not speak much because the signal had turned green by then! Within a couple of days he called me over for an audition." YRF's requirement for the role was a boy who could speak fluent and authentic Punjabi, besides being a good actor. "Being a Punjabi, it came naturally to me. So I gave my best during the auditions. After one and a half months, I got a call from the casting director and he told me director Maneesh Sharma was very happy to see my audition and asked me to come to Mumbai for the shooting. I was thrilled!" he remembers. The actor has already shot for seven days and has another few days of shooting left.
