Mariam Khan to take leap; Avinash Mishra and Paras Kanlawat to exit!

Mariam Khan to take leap
MUMBAI: Star Plus' drama Mariam Khan - Reporting Live started with much fanfare. With an ensemble cast comprising popular names, the daily was expected to be the next big thing on the tube. However, things didn't really work in favor of the show. Since its inception, it has seen declining TRPs.

Now, within two months of launch, the makers are planning to introduce a generation leap in the storyline. 'The show's idea of a small girl didn't really click with the audience, probably due to an ongoing popular show on the same channel, which also revolves around a girl (Kullfi Kumarr Bajewala),' a source adds.

TellyChakkar has exclusive information that the leap is set to air by the end of the month.

However, what is more shocking is the fact that post the leap, primary characters of the series might bid adieu to the show.

Paras Kanlawat and Avinash Mishra, who were playing the lead characters, might not continue the daily post the leap.

'With Mariam growing up, a love angle would be introduced for her,' a little birdie tells us. As a result, Paras and Avinash won't have much to do in the narrative.

Apparently, the writers have been asked to gradually delete the male actors' tracks subsequently. 'Anyhow, the two were not seen much on the screens.'

Not just this, an informer tells us that major changes would occur. Even Sheena Bajaj and Priyanka Kandwal's screen appearance will be reduced: 'Since they are a part of Mariam's family, their characters will be a part of the show post leap.'

Deshna Dugad, who plays the titular character, will exit as well.

When we contacted Paras, he texted us saying, 'I don't want to comment anything now.' Meanwhile, Mishra didn't revert to our calls and messages.

Do you think the show produced by Somersault Productions will work post the time jump? Let us know in the comments below which actress you think should essay the grown-up Mariam.
