The Rang De Basanti singer Naresh Iyer is taking a serious look at life. For the first time celebs from Bollywood have come together on television for a social cause. And 26-year-old singer Naresh is all set to do his bit on 9X’s musical show Mission Ustaad. Naresh is all excited to be part of this noble cause. For a youngster to be associated with such causes often takes one by surprise. Naresh explains, “It’s not about how young you are but how mature you are. The show demands much more from a singer. It gives you a chance to express your individuality.” This Mumbai singer, who won the RD.Burman award for upcoming talent in music, states that Mission Ustaad is about creating social awareness through their songs. But doesn’t this show also help in promoting a young singer like you? He replies, “I wouldn’t deny that this show provides us a platform to showcase our talent but that is not the principal reason for me coming here. No doubt that this show will present Naresh Iyer, the singer in a better way but it will also help in showcasing my inner self.” Cynics have expressed doubts whether this show will succeed in creating a social awareness but Naresh is unperturbed. He says, “More than achieving results it’s important that one needs to possess a good heart. We as citizens of India have gathered to create social awareness. Even if we manage to send our message to one person out of 10, I’m sure that one person will in turn pass it to the other.” An avid Rahman fan, Naresh has even been inspired by his mentor’s music hairstyle. However he quickly retorts, “I don’t try to look like him. It’s just that my hairstyle is similar to what Rahman had earlier.”
