Dipika Samson is a household name today, courtesy the fame and recognition she has gained playing Simar in Colors’ popular show Sasural Simar Ka (Rashmi Sharma Productions). However, the lady recently decided to quit the show owing to creative issues. Ever since Dipika decided to throw in the towel, extensive auditions were on to find the face to play Simar, Dipika’s replacement. However, the hunt has now come to a standstill, with Dipika back-tracking!! Yes, you heard it right!! Dipika was always in talks for reconciliation, and there was an outside chance of things settling down between the actor and the production house. And the mere possibility now looks certain, as Dipika has decided to continue playing Simar. Said a reliable source, “Auditions were certainly on, and a particular actor was even locked to play Simar. But the unexpected has happened and Dipika has expressed her desire to continue doing the show.” Wow, this is good news indeed for fans of Dipika!! So how did things shape up? An insider from the set of Sasural Simar Ka shares exclusive info, “Dipika did bid her final adieu to the actors and unit members last Friday (9 May). And of the many known names short-listed, the channel and maker did finalize on Sonali Nikam to step into the shoes of Dipika as Simar. But Dipika apparently developed cold feet, and got very emotional to move on from the Simar family. Everyone on the set was shocked and amused to see the lady report on set yet again today. It is heard that she had got into talks with the channel and maker, post which the actress decided to stay put. And of course, Dipika is happy with the creative changes that have been promised. Also, Dipika has got a monetary hike by deciding to stay on.” Here is the list of names that were short-listed (who auditioned) for the role of Simar – Aasiya Kazi, Leena Jumani, Rishina Kandhari, Adaa Khan, Sonali Nikam. And the fact remains that Sonali almost went on to bag the coveted role of Simar. We tried contacting Dipika, but could not get through to her. When contacted, Sonali did confirm that she was indeed short listed for Simar’s role but did not divulge further. Our efforts to get a confirmation from Producer Rashmi Sharma proved futile.
