Kavita Kaushik is not the least perturbed about the low ratings (0.7) that her new SAB TV show Tota Weds Maina has got. “One month is too less a time to decide on the fate of any story. Even my earlier super hit comic cop show FIR, on the same channel, took about three months to pick up,” Kavita quips. She had quit the above Edit 2 production to play this sweet chulbuli girl along with Gaurav Gera. But aren’t you worried that if the current numbers hold, the channel may soon take a call on the show? “I don’t know why people take work so seriously; it is not a marriage. It is just another project. If it does not work, they will take it off. We will then do one more serial. That is the life of creative people. And honestly I don’t care about numbers; I am more interested in my character.” “I am having a great time with the unit. One of the main reasons for saying yes to Tota Weds Maina was that it gave me a chance to do something different after playing Chandramukhi Chautala for seven long years. Here I must add that very few people could have pulled off such an achievement,” she avers. She also adds that she prefers to work with a channel like SAB, for they have more realistic shows as compared to other channels which have over the top dramas. Looking ahead, Kavita is of the view that she wants a break, “I want to fly off to the US for a month, roam around and spend some time with my family. I have been working for ten long years and feel the need to now take a breather. After that I might do something different like theatre and cinema,” Kavita observes. The actress also does not regard her previous failed adventure in Bollywood a bad experience, “Just the fact that Phillum City has not released till now, does it mean that it has not worked out. I work for money and got paid for the same effort. Plus I made many good friends on that set and have also learnt a lot. And you never know that the film might see the light of the day in the coming months,” she maintains.
