It was a home decorative item that actor Rajdeep Gupta, who is currently seen in Star Jalsha's daily Jhaanj Lobongo Phool, had ordered from online shopping site Amazon but instead of receiving the parcel, he faced unnecessary harassment at a government office in Kolkata.  

When Tellychakkar.com got in touch with the well-known Bong actor to know more about it, he shared his ordeal, “I am a frequent online shopper. I buy 90 percent of the things online. So, there is this particular company who had sent the item through speed post. They must have tried delivering the item and I wasn’t at home. So next day, I received a letter from the local post office (Sarat Bose Road post office). It said that I will have to collect the parcel from the post office showing the letter. I did what I was instructed but they asked me to show my ID card. Next day, I went with my ID, the Amazon mail photocopy and the money receipt copy but still the post office people were not happy.”   

“Firstly, they made me wait while they were chit chatting and talking about their own issues right in front of me. After nagging several times, they saw my documents and made their new demand. They said now I will have to produce my home record. This is height of illogical demands and harassment! Even after showing my identity proofs, prepaid parcel, bills, I couldn’t satisfy them,” he added.

Have you thought about taking any action against them for harassing you unnecessarily? He answered, “What action should I take against them! I don’t think I am the only one to go through such an experience. They have so much ego problem. Even after receiving that company’s call they are not delivering the parcel directly to my home. They agreed to deliver the parcel on coming Monday only when they were pressurized but I will have to be present to receive the parcel. Now this is too much.”   

“Even that company is surprised. The company called to say sorry and also added that next time if there is an order from Kolkata they will give it a second thought,” he added.

Tellychakkar also contacted the company, who had sent the item through speed post to Rajdeep.  

A person from the company said in terms of anonymity, “I am not sure why they (post office) are asking for such documents. I am the seller and I don’t know what kind of protocol they follow. Protocols are followed everywhere but not to the extent that the customers could be harassed. These people are supposed to deliver the parcel via their vendors without demanding any address proofs. It is not the duty of customers to go and collect the parcel.”

“Rajdeep went to the postal office twice but they are not handing over the parcel to him. They are absolutely asking for rubbish documents. I have never experienced such a thing before.”

We also tried to connect with the post office but could not reach them till the time of filing this article.

Later the actor connected with us to inform that his parcel has been delievered by the post office. Also he shared that the delivery person apologised profusely to him.
