Reena ‘Nimmi’ Kapoor gets talking on her ‘EXIT’ from Colors’ Shakti

Reena Kapoor spills the beans on her decision to quit Colors’ Shakti

She’s one of the nicest ‘motherly’ characters in Indian TV space today!! She’s been the epitome of courage, confidence and will power.

It’s sad to lose such a character to ‘death’!! Yes, we are talking about the character of Nimmi, essayed by the popular face Reena Kapoor in Colors’ widely watched show Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki (Rashmi Sharma Productions).

The news of Nimmi’s death in the show has come across as a shocker!! And it is believed that Saumya (Rubina Dilaik) will lose her one and only support, that is her mother.

The kidnap of Saumya will affect Nimmi very badly. And Preeto’s (Kamya Punjabi) stunning words will hit Nimmi so much that she will start to feel guilty as a mother, for not being able to protect her daughter. Stricken with guilt, Nimmi will suffer a major heart attack, and will breathe her last.

This is the plot ahead.

We at Tellychakkar.com talked to actress Reena Kapoor on the major creative decision taken to spike the story. Also, we got to know of Reena’s decision of moving out of the show...

Yes, true this is a huge development to take the story ahead, and make Harman (Vivian Dsena) more important in Saumya’s life. However, the decision was taken after Reena expressed her desire to quit the show.

Here is the actress in conversation...

“Yes, with a heavy heart, I bid adieu to Shakti. After Woh Rehne Waali, this will be one character that will remain with me forever. Nimmi has been a strong and loving mother, and I have been living the character in my own way from the beginning. It was my decision to let go the character.”

Elaborating on her commitment, the actress said, “My husband is moving to USA for work and will be there for the next 11 to 12 months. I did not want to be here alone. So I had talked about it with the production house, about relieving me. This was not an overnight decision at all; I thought about it for quite sometime and then decided to move out of Shakti. I will be travelling to USA with my husband in December.”

When asked about the beautiful phase of being part of Shakti, she averred, “The journey has been very nice. As I said, this was a very tough decision to make, considering that I had given life to it from scene one.”

For Reena, her co-actors are family. “I will miss everyone a lot. I was very close to Roshni (Sohuta), Rubina (Dilaik), my on-screen mother and Ayub Khan. We gelled exactly like a family. On the professional front, I will miss my character of Nimmi.”

Reena is actually thankful to the channel and production for killing her character. “I was actually having my fingers crossed, as I did not want any replacement for my character. I have played it the way I found best. The character is very close to my heart. I would have always wished for the character’s death. And I am thankful that my character dies with my exit.”

When asked about future plans, Reena stated, “Well, I am now looking forward to my USA trip. I will certainly come back, and pick up another meaty character in the near future.”

Reena, wish you all the very best!!
