Click on the pic to view slideshow It was Navratri and dandiya raas time of the year and here I was struggling to navigate the killing traffic to reach on time to meet my dinner appointment with the gorgeous Shama Sikander. It was a last minute scheduling and she had requested for an Andheri venue, hence the delay in my reaching the restaurant. I was behind schedule by one hour to arrive at the popular hang-out place of youngsters Some Like It Hot (SLIH) at Andheri. The place was bustling with young people and it being a Karaoke Night, the mike was being passed around often. The service was quick and the atmosphere was vibrant. By the time I reached, Shama was waiting for me in the restaurant along with a friend. She looked svelte and lovely in a deep purple top with a printed silk scarf wrung stylishly around her. After due apologies, we call for sizzlers – Chicken Scallopini accompanied with mashed potato and Exotic vegetables in Pearl sauce. The beautiful actor said she is a foodie who likes most of the Indian and international cuisines. But as is with actors, she too is careful about what goes into her system. A chilled mocktail and Garden Greens Salad had us roll into our conversation. After doing a few films and lead roles in TV serials, Shama currently essays the negative character of Bhayankar Pari in the new serial Balveer on SAB TV and seemed quite happy doing so. “It is not totally negative but with grey shades. All of us have good and bad within us. I am also an angel but one who has been shortchanged and wishes to get even.” In the meanwhile, between her break from TV shows and films, the elegant girl launched her boutique called Saisha in the busy lanes of Bandra. Elaborating on her designer line she shared, “We have both Indian and western ranging from Rs.3,000 onwards.” SLIH also serves mini meals like Veg Thai Curry, Stroganoff, risottos, pastas and more but we preferred to keep it snacky with garlic cheese bread, SLIH Sandwich and thin crust pizza. No… the svelte actor did not have these as she was getting late for her appointment with some international producers who were coming down to meet her to discuss film proposals. “I met them in Dubai while I was hanging out in a pub and dancing with my friends Tanaaz and Bakhtyar Irani. They approached after seeing me dance and now want me to act in their film.” Shama is sweet-toothed and loved the Blueberry Cheesecake but found the Karoake Night a bit irritating. “I hate noisy places where you cannot have a peaceful conversation. I don’t like to attend parties either. ” But I remind her that she is seen in almost all parties in town and is a regular pg3 person to which she conceded, “Yes… that’s because you have to network.” Would she like to be in the Bigg Boss house? Strangely she said a “Yes” because that will let her come out with her true emotions while she is surrounded by negativity as is seen in the house. As far as I know Shama, which is quite a long time, she is a sweet Pari and not a wicked angel. I asked about her boyfriend Alex O’Neil and if marriage was on the cards to which she smiled, “As of now we are seeing each other and have no plans. Let’s see how it progresses. Alex is a very nice person.” On this note… I took Alex’s number and promised to meet them together the next time. I saw her off for her next impending meeting with important people and wished her all good things in life.
