Ltd’s Diya Aur Baati Hum on Star Plus has had a remarkable connect with the audiences, especially for its novel concept of the husband being the main pillar of support when it comes to the wife achieving the professional landmark that she has always aspired of. The show now gears up for its next huge milestone in terms of achievement, as it completes its two years run on 29 August 2013. And we hear that the production house is leaving no stone unturned to celebrate the moment in a big way!!! Yes, they have a unique idea and thought going for the celebration. Producers Shashi and Sumeet Mittal have launched a nation-wide contest looking for the ‘real-life’ Sooraj and Sandhya. The idea is to seek entries from fans and supporters of the show on their real-life stories as to how they stood by their husbands/ wives in order to help achieve the goals and ambitions of the other, which is aptly the crux of Diya Aur Baati Hum. A little birdie tells us that in just less than two days of the contest launch, the production house has received hundreds of entries from loyal fans. The best of two stories and two couple winners will be chosen at the end of the contest. And the icing on the cake will be that the winners will be flown to Mumbai to share their experiences with the cast and crew of the show. The ‘real life winners’ will meet their ‘reel-life’ Sooraj and Sandhya exactly on the day when Diya Aur Baati Hum completes two years (29 August 2013), and be a part of the live celebrations on the sets. When contacted, Sooraj aka Anas Rashid took our call even when he was busy shopping for Eid. He expressed his happiness over this and said, “Well, I have not been informed of this till now. However, it is a nice feeling to know that the concept of Diya Aur Baati Hum is well-accepted by viewers.” Deepika Singh aka Sandhya said, “Well, I am not yet married in real life, so it will be hard for me to talk about any real life experience. But I see a little bit of Sandhya in every Indian woman. In my case, I had always decided to achieve my goals in my professional career and then get married. I am glad that my parents support me in this decision.
