Shubhangi Latkar
Actress Shubhangi Latkar is on ‘cloud nine’ after bagging the Zee Rishtey Award for the Best Saas for her performance in Zee TV’s Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se, produced by FilmFarm India. To tell you more, her on-screen husband played by Ishrat Ali too won the Best Sasur Award at the awards night. Shubhangi who has been part of Marathi serials and has been seen in movies like Aashiqui 2 and the recently released Rajjo where she plays mother to Kangna Ranaut feels that unlike other ‘saas’ who scheme and plot against their daughter-in-law, she plays a character who is genuinely loving and caring towards one and all in her family. Says Shubhangi, “My character is that of a loving mother, even to her own kids and to her step-son played by Arhaan Behll. She also has a good-for-nothing husband, but loves him to the core. The lady is quite talented in the fact that she balances well between all the members in the family and holds them in good stead. She is extremely positive and loving, and this is the best part to playing the character.” The award at the Zee Rishtey Awards came as a complete surprise to Shubhangi. “Well, I know I have worked hard for my role, but never knew that I will ever get an award. In fact, I did not even know that I was nominated for the Best Saas. When I went for the awards night, we were just settling down when my name was announced as the winner. And it came to me as a pleasant shock. When I went to the dais, I was thrilled as my work was praised and I was even made to dance by the host.” “I take this opportunity to thank the channel Zee TV. This is the first time I am working with them, and to know that my work has been appreciated makes me happy. I thank my Producer Rupali and Pintoo Guha (FilmFarm India), Gaurav Kaushal who cast me for this show and all my co-actors who have been supportive to me,” adds the excited actress. Talking at length about her co-actors in the show, she tells, “We are like one big family. We have gelled so well that we love each other’s company on the sets. Sadly, we miss Alok Nathji as he is not part of the show anymore. However, we make up for it when we have time in hand. Recently, Alok Nathji invited us for a party at his house as he was missing us. We had a gala time with him. Also, we have a group of Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se on BBM and we have fun time chatting whenever we are free.” Ask her about her character graph and she quickly tells us, “Well, you never know what’s in store for the future. But as of now, the lady is very positive even to her daughter-in-law. As narrated to me, she is going to be a very important character in the story to come too. The makers actually needed a good actor for this role, and I am glad to be part of Do Dil Bandhe Ek Dori Se.”
