A page from the personal diary of Abigail Jain Hi, this is Abigail Jain whom you all have seen in 9X’s Kya Dil Mein Hai and Channel V’s Humse Hai Liife. Today, I am here to brief you all about myself. To start with let me tell you that I was born in Mumbai. My father Vijay Pandey is a well known director in the TV industry having worked on serials like Uttaran, Saat Phere and Ram Milaayi Jodi. Incidentally, my mother would assist film editor the late Renu Saluja but after marriage, she quit working and turned a housewife. I did my schooling in St. Joseph’s convent in Bandra. During my school days, I would love to dance and play football. Do you know that I have learnt the Kathak dance style also. Later, I studied in the Sophia College in Mumbai in the Arts stream. There is one more addition of my family who has been associated to the TV industry. My sister Kimberley played Birwa on Imagine’s Bandini but presently, she is concentrating on her studies as she is in Class X. Let me clear of one thing, many people jump to the conclusion that as my father is in the TV industry, I get roles easily. That’s wrong. In reality a director has no say in the casting. After all, my father doesn’t own a production house. In fact, I am an accidental actor; I simply didn’t want to act. My acting break was with Balaji Telefilms and my father has never worked with that production house. It so happened that when I was in college, Balaji Telefilms was holding an audition outside St. Xavier’s College just when the Malhar Festival was on. A female friend of mine was to go for the audition, but was too afraid to go all by herself. She earnestly requested me to accompany her. And in order to boost her morale, I said that I would audition before she did. The result; I bagged the lead role in Balaji Telefilm’s Kya Dil Mein Hai. I was just 15 years old then but the role was of a 20-year-old lady. Then, my Hindi wasn’t very good; so, I tried very hard to brush up my Hindi. Also I had to lose a lot of weight for it. For this, I need to thank Ekta Kapoor for having full faith in me. My parents were very supportive; they let me act though I was just 15 years of age then. My acting journey has been very satisfactory and I’ve really enjoyed it. I have been acting for six years now and have learnt something new with every role that I have played. I can however confidently say that the role closest to my heart is that of Sia in Humse Hai Liife. After all this was the first role in which I was able to play a character whose age matched with mine. All the other characters I have played were much older than I was in that period. Also Humse Hai Liife being a youth show had a lot of vibrancy on the sets. Sia was quite like me as she was quite mature for her age, down to earth, friendly, bubbly and had a raging temper. In this show there were no rona dhona scenes or melodrama. Now let me tell you about my other likes. When I am not acting, I play the keyboard, piano, read and watch movies. I love to watch all kinds of movies. I have loved the Iron Man movies, the Harry Potter films and all Hindi films (especially the romantic ones). I love Danielle Steel’s novels. I have read each and every Harry Potter novel about ten times. I have also loved reading Many Lives Many Masters by Brian Weiss. After reading that, I started believing in past lives. I love to listen to the symphonies of Beethoven and Mozart. Hey folks, I think this much is enough. With this, I thank all my fans for appreciating my work. I want to tell you all that I love you a lot. One thing is clear that I wouldn’t have been popular today if it hadn’t been for the immense love that you have showered on me.
