Chilsag Chillies Theatre Company announces the staging of its original critically acclaimed play Wakeup Call by Sachin Gupta, an Off Broadway Playwright, Theatre Director & recipient of National Award Natya Bhushan. The cast of the play features familiar film & television faces along with other theatre artists. Names who would blow your minds off with their meticulous performances are Gauri Karnik (lead actor of Sur-feature film), Anjum Farooki (Gauri in Balika Vadhu-Colors), Rubina Dilaik (Radhika in Choti Bahu- Zee TV), Praneeta Sahu (Kasturi fame, Uttaran-Colors), Kashmira Irani (Amber in Amber Dhara-Sony’s Popular Television series), Nupur Joshi (Sumii-Do Hanso Ka Jodaa-Colors & Rakhi-Zee TV), and Prerna Wanvari (Raveena in Parichay-Colors). Wakeup Call explores the theme of guilt, denial and fear and the story revolves around the occurrence of a bomb blast in Mumbai. The play looks at the effects of violence on people, a community’s varied responses towards tragedy and examines the insensitivity of those with might and power. This is the first time Chilsag Chillies Theatre Company will be staging this play in Mumbai. The world premiere production of Wakeup Call happened earlier in New Delhi on 7 September 2007 at Sriram centre Auditorium. Wakeup Call will stage in Mumbai on 21 July (2012) at ISKCON Auditorium, Juhu at 8:00pm (one night performance).
