Today is Makarsankranti. And the skies are filled with kites of different shapes and sizes. And amidst the cries of kaipoche, TV actors tell Tellychakkar.com what this festival of kites’ means to them. Read on. For actor Harshad Chopda, the festival starts early in the morning: “I used to wait for this festival. I have many Gujarati friends and this festival used to drive us all crazy. We used to meet early in the morning on this day and start flying kites from 6 in the morning. I have always been extremely fond of flying kites and fortunately I was a master at it too. This Makarsankranti too I hope to be with my childhood friends. I wish all my Gujarati fans a very happy Makarsankranti.” And for Heena Parmar it was about enjoying food with the family. “Waking up early morning at 5 o’clock and preparing special dishes like undhiyu and sweets are my most memorable memories of Makarsankranti. I stay in a joint family so we all eat lunch and dinner together on the terrace and fly kites. I will be celebrating Makarsankranti in Mumbai this year, because I cannot travel to Gujarat due to my tight shooting schedule,” beams the actress. Neha Sargam too enjoys this festival with her family, “My day begins with preparing sweets and serving it to elders and later the entire family eats together. We also donate food to poor people. This festival for us is all about family and near and dear ones. I won’t be missing this festival for anything else. This is the day that my entire family comes together. I wish everyone a happy and safe Makarsankranti.” But for Dilip Joshi, the festival means work. “For the past three years, we have been shooting for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, on this festival. But in my childhood, it used to revolve around kites. We used to fly kites on terrace all day long and used to have lots of til-gud laddoos,” says Dilip. Here’s wishing you a happy Makarsankranti.
