What's in a name: The Sara Khan confusion story

Sara Khan (Dhoondh Legi Manzil Humein) and Sara Khan(Bidaai)
Shakespeare once said, ‘What’s in a name?’ But identical names, that too of stars, can create a lot of confusion. Take this case for example. Media was flooded with news of Sara Khan bagging Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam starrer movie Total Siyapaa. But everyone wondered which Sara Khan, for the industry has one too many. The Sara who acted and earned accolades in the above film is the one who featured in Star One’s television show Dhoondh Legi Manzil Humein. But many articles written on the movie carried pictures of the other Sara, the Bigg Boss and Bidaai fame. Ahh quite a confusion, but none of the scribe bothered to cross check before going ahead with the story. When we contacted Sara of Total Siyapaa fame to get her take on the same, she said, “The entire misunderstanding took place much before the movie released. Luckily, now things have settled. In fact, a lot of critics have praised my work and a few have even mentioned in brackets – not to misunderstand her for the Bigg Boss girl.” “A lot of people recognize me now and as far as the credit going to someone else is concerned, I think I was mentally prepared for it. I knew that there would be misunderstandings and such things don’t bother me,” confirmed the actress. She also went on to confess that she did write to a publication for using the other Sara’s picture in place of her. “I did put in a request saying get your facts right and that was it. I did not really push the case any further.” Though, this Sara has taken it all with a pinch of salt, the Bigg Boss fame Sara seems in no mood to spare anyone. “This is disgusting publicity. It’s also surprising why none of these media organizations took the effort to actually call and check before uploading my pictures in place of some other actress. This is exactly how controversies are created,” said a miffed Sara. She further went on to add, “I have had to face so much of embarrassment because of these stories. People from my hometown have actually called me up and said that they’ll go to watch this movie because I am a part of it. But then this is a big siyapaa (smiles) for the film is not at all close to me.” Her grievance did not end there and she continued, “My fans on Facebook and Twitter had been so excited to watch a movie that I am not even a part of. Well-known magazines too have my articles with my quote on the film - quotes that I never gave.” Now that was about someone else’s movie. Talking about her own, Sara said, “My film Midsummer Midnight is releasing on 9 May 2014. So I’d want people to talk about me then and not now.” Well, at the end, any publicity is good publicity.
