OTT platforms have witnessed significant growth in the year 2018. The digital space is currently considered one of the best formats to explore content. Almost every maker is experimenting with the digital platform to bring original content. Viewers are also slowly changing their preferences from watching TV to digital shows. Even actors are showing interest in working in series.

Another change that we have witnessed in this year is that along with airing on TV, show are also been aired on OTT platforms.

It started with Balaji Telefilms’ Dil Hi Toh Hai, which was pulled off from Sony Entertainment Television but continued to air on ALTBalaji. As there was more viewership on the digital space, the makers decided to continue airing it there.

A similar thing happened with Sphere Origins’ Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka. The channel pulled the plug on the show from Colors, and it now exclusively streams on Voot.

Discovery’s Sarfarosh: Saragarhi 1897, which wowed audiences on television, is now airing the reruns on online streaming giant Netflix.

Recently, Ekta Kapoor thanked Star Plus for also streaming Kasautii Zindagi Kay 2 on her digital platform ALTBalaji.

We think it is a win–win situation for all, as in spite of pulling down shows from GECs, fans can continue watching them on OTT platforms.
