Will
your role of 'Mohini Mittal' in 'Kyunki...' be a long role?
It
should be. Working with Balaji Telefilms is like coming back home
as I had worked as Kkusum’s younger sister “Jyoti”
and left when the show took an 18 years jump. Ekta saw my performance
in Siddhanth on Star One and offered me the role of Mohini.
Are
you going to carry forward the “Ansh” legacy of troubling
the Virani family?
Oh,
yes, I have been roped in to add spice to the show. By the time
Ansh will be killed, my character will start showing her true colours.
Ekta offered me the role, because I can play negative roles with
conviction while looking innocent.
Why
did you leave “Kumkum”?
Ans.
I left Kumkum because I needed a break after playing a negative
character for so long. My character was popular to the extent that
once, when I went to attend a function in Nagpur, a woman ran after
me with a chappal in her hand!
Will
“Renuka” return in 'Kumkum'?
The
channel does want me back, but it has not been decided when and
how!
Don’t
you want to play a positive character?
I
am open to playing a positive role, if there is scope to perform.
But then, when one you are doing well as a negative lead, you tend
to be offered similar roles.
How
was your trip to Pakistan for your show “Partition Ek Safar”?
It
was an overwhelming experience. I am the first actress from the
Indian television industry who went to Pakistan for shooting. When
I went to shops, there were many people who didn’t let me pay
for stuff like bangles, saying I am their country’s guest.
That was really touching.
When
will it see the light of day?
The
serial, Partition Ek Safar will go on air on 12 December
on Geo Channel. I might go for the launch.
