quirky world of television is full of stars, starry mood
swings, the rat race for the stellar roles and lots more...

Cut it short!
That
seems to be the anthem of the leading ladies on television right
now. After swinging curtains
of tresses that was the norm a while ago, actresses are going in
for the absolute short look.
Take a look at Urvashi Dholakia
in Kasautii Zindagi Kay. She has swapped the fancy hairdo she
sported in favour of a tomboy look. The intricate bindis and long
earrings however stay intact. Urvashi seems to be vying for attention
as the vamp of the series with rival Apoorna (Geetanjali Tikekar)
who has taken to wearing a brown wig that cascades over her shoulders!
Across channels, on Zee TV
to be precise, Niki Aneja has abandoned the simple look she sported
and is now being seen as a trendy lady too. This has happened
post her accident, in which she has lost her memory!
Will the short hairstyle
bug bite the rest of the soap brigade ? Wait and watch!

More on Meher!
If
you haven't been following this UTV soap on Doordarshan, now's the
time to tune in....Meher's going in for a twist in the tale!
A quick recap - Meher's lost
her husband Irfan and to protect the millions he's left behind
from her scheming twin sister Shabana, Meher plans to tie the
knot with her own brother in law, Zayed. To make matters worse,
Zayed thinks Meher is Shabana.
If that grips your curiosity
enough, turn to Doordarshan on Thursday at 8.30 pm to find out
if Meher can win back her identity and perchance, her devar's
respect too....

[V] are like that only
With
the flavour of the month being reality shows, it's little wonder
that the reality genre is receiving some good press.
But with competition
building up, comes the inevitable round of mud-slinging. So while
Sony claims that its talent hunt is above the clutter,- "nothing
like [V]'s hunt" to be more specific. Well, well after that
jibe, Sony had it coming.
[V]'s head honcho Amar Deb's
repartee to that remark? "Unlike others, we are not sitting
'idle'"(that's a jibe at Sony's Indian Idol, for those a
little slow on the uptake). "We have the real heavyweight
jury, exclusive to us, unlike some over exposed Nigam." The
heavyweight referred to here is of course, singer Adnan Sami who
is championing the cause of V's Super Singers.
And what does Deb have to
say about the competition? "I don't know why they are even
bothering to get into the arena, may be they should just pack
their bags and leave." Ouch!!!

Family
first for Deepshikha!
Bet
you didn't know this. Deepshikha refused two plum assignments when
she was expecting her second baby recently. The lady who delivered
early this month tells us, "I refused Sonal Sehgal's role in
Kasautii Zindagi Kay and Aditi Govitrikar's role in Kkehna
Hai Kuch Mujhko. I could not commit to these, since I won't
be venturing out for at least 40 days hereafter." Well, who
says that the bhartiya nari's modernization has made her throw caution
to the winds? Husband Jeet Upen's pub is raining till late every
day. And of course, the family is complete. Say cheers! |

The
party continues
.
Manish
Goswami's Kittie Party may be over, but the ladies have combined
to ensure that their reel party becomes real. The entire Kittie
gang will now have a kittie, sorry, a kitty party every month. Reason?
A very strong bond that developed between the group which they didn't
want to weaken. This gang is a helluva lot concerned about each
other. A case in point: Deepshikha in hospital during her delivery
stay got her lunch from one kitty member, evening snacks from the
second, dinner from the third... Well, we would love to be a fly
on this kitty party's wall. The laughter, screaming, bitching...
and the non-vegetarian jokes (which are a norm in most such get-togethers)...
who doesn't want to hear them? |

Maddy's
hopping mad
..
Rajesh
Khera (Maddy of Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin) is spitting fire.
Recently, he was offered four good roles- three from UTV (Kehta
Hai Dil and two Hungama projects) and one from the Sagars.
But what were they offering him for his services? Peanuts, he
says. Despite the perception that the TV industry is growing by
leaps and bounds, Khera wants to know: Where is the money going?
Why are the actors expected to come at cheap rates? Are the big
bucks meant only for those few selected female protagonists? Point
noted, Khera. Thankfully, films have given this baldie (by choice)
a better deal. "I have short roles in Tango Charlie
plus Ram Gopal Varma and Sanjay F Gupta's forthcoming films. But
the money has been good and paid on time," he stresses. Hmmm...

Pari's going places
Guess
who is Tony and Deeya Singh's current favourite. Not Mona Singh.
Not Parmeet Sethi. Not Rakshanda Khan. Apoorva Agnihotri and Gaurav
Khera? No way. Manini De! De has been signed to play Miss Talwar
in Singh's Baal Baal Bache which is coming up on Sahara
shortly. Do we hear them singing Pari Jaissi Koi Nahin?
