"I have become greedy..."- Pawan Shankar

"Playing Siddhanth Mehra has made me very greedy --- now I am greedy for good and different roles," says Pawan Shankar, who makes a big screen appearance in Vinta Nanda's White Noise, that releases today.

Pawan Shankar: Playing the seasoned lawyer with ease!

White Noise was an experience that gave this actor an opportunity to try a different medium --" The role was a small one, but it conveyed the crux of the movie in one scene," says the actor, who has received critical acclaim for his portaryal of the tough, somewhat eccentric lawyer, in Star One's Siddhanth.

"Siddhanth was a very lucky break for me, it is not often that a newcomer gets to do such a powerful role," says Pawan, who is very grateful to Anuradha Prasad for giving him an opportunity to prove his mettle.

Pawan has refused two roles offered to him by the queen of soaps,

Ekta Kapoor, but he says that there is no bad blood between them --- "I loved the roles that she had offered, but I did not want to replace anyone - that way I could not have grown with the character," adds Pawan, for whom creative satisfaction tops the list of priorities. For those not clued in, Pawan was offered the role of Sujal when Rajeev Khandelwal threatened to quit the show. Rajeev, however, came back to the show after dithering on the issue for a few days.

When asked about the special Siddhanth episode with noted lawyer Ram Jethmalani, Pawan laughs out loud and points out that Mr Jethmalani could well have taken up acting as his career. He tells us that the scene between the high profile lawyer and himself were shot without any retakes --- "Bhai manage kar lena," being the only instruction from the director!

The growing popularity of his character has made him hot property overnight --- film offers are pouring in, but this man from Allahabad wants to bide his time and does not want to make any hasty decisions.

All the way from Allahabad, Pawan seems to be well on his way in tinseltown!
