He
is perhaps the most eligible bachelor in
town. He is a powerhouse performer and even
Ekta Kapoor admits that he is the most promising
star in her armoury. Meet Mohammad Iqbal
Khan, aka Angad in Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai,
an actor who has made quiet an impression
with his first foray into tellydom.
Chikita Kukreja caught up with
the busy actor in Kamalistan studios in
suburban Mumbai, where he was shooting for
the serial.
I, me, myself
I am very normal, or rather I should say
I am very boring, I don’t even remember
when I last went clubbing. I am nothing
like Angad, nothing at all.
My work and me
Nowadays, I shoot for 13 hours, which earlier
use to be 24 hours a day. I am leaving for
Dubai with the other main leads of the serial
on 2 October for a few days as things are
getting big and exciting in the serial.
Balaji and me
I am loyal to whatever I do and therefore
I ought to be loyal to Balaji at the first
place, Ekta was the only person who gave
me a chance to show my capabilities, and
I did it very well!(Laughs). And as it is
I don’t have any time to do anything else.
Later on I don't know what is going to happen.
My stint with
movies
You appeared in two movies, any plans of
doing more?
Funtush was ok but Bullet
turned out to be a disaster. After Murder
became a hit, quite a number of similar
kind of films were offered to me, but I
didn’t want to do any thing of that sort.I
don’t see any difference between films and
television, there is a huge fan following
in films and the same is the case with television.
My pals on the
show
Amit (Pritvi) is like a brother, I happen
to finish most of his grub and he ends up
with an empty stomach. With the rest, I
am friendly, Sujata (his mother) is nice,
and yes there are some new characters coming
up, Rohit and Ali Hasan, even they are sweet.
Of course, you can’t be best friends with
everyone!
My love
I am going steady with a girl, and am quite
serious too. But at present I cannot think
of getting married for the next three years,
as my profession and life demand that.
My parents
They are very proud of me, and extremely
happy too. They feel on top of the world
when they hear people whispering,”Dekho
dekho, Angad key mummy papa Hain.” I
would love to get them here, but they should
agree to that. They have always stayed in
Kashmir, in a cold place and they won't
be able to stay here.
Mumbai blues
My hair has started greying and perhaps
this is proof that I have really struggled
a lot after coming to Mumbai.
Movies and music
There was a time when I used to watch each
and every movie, and now I don’t even know
about the new releases. And about music,
I do possess an ipod and I keep asking my
cousin to download some songs for me.
My message to
my fans
I love you all and thanks for all the support
you’ve given me. It’s been just seven months
and the serial is doing amazingly great,
thanks to you all!
