Amith
Behll: Not new to theatre!
|
and last seen in Sony's Ek Ladki Anjaani
Si as ACP Vishwas Diwan, is getting
ready to experiment with his first love
- theatre.
After a gap of a decade, Amith will be
spotted in Dinesh Thakur's play Topi
Shukla, written by Dr Rahi Muzoom Rezaa.
The play focuses on the narrowmindedness
of Indian society post Partition. It sketches
the background of Aligarh of the 1960s and
stars Dinesh Thakur, Preeta Mathur Thakur
and Sushil Bahutiyar.
The story revolves around a Muslim couple
and a Hindu boy whose innocent relationship
is challenged by a society, which terms
religion superior to humanity.
Amith will be seen in front of a live audience
after a gap of 10 years. "I have worked
with Neena Gupta, Lillette Dubey, Paritosh
Painter and many more but Topi Shukla
will be my return to experimental theatre.
Before that, I had worked in Kanyadan
written by Vijay Tendulkar, which was on
the lines of sensitive and experimental
theatre. That was the first time I met Dinesh
(Thakur) and recently we decided to team
up for this venture," says Amith who
changed the spelling of his name sometime
back after visiting Sanjay Jumani. Eventhough
Amith visited Sanjay Jumani year and half
back he wasn't quite serious about changing
the spelling of his name untill things weren't
exactly falling into place so decided to
go with the new spelling and added an extra
H and L to his name.
Amith hasn't forsaken TV altogether. One
can spot him in Mamtaa on Zee TV
and Zarra Si Zindagi on ARY Digital.
He will also be spotted in the soon to be
released movie Eik Dasttak besides
he has also entired Chi and Me.
