The
promos of Star Plus' Heartbeat has
one distinct voice that presides over the
show. This face behind this voice has been
kept under wraps, not only by the channel
and the production house, but also by the
man himself! But there's no mistaking Kapoor's
heavy duty voice that's his distinct style!
Mohan
Kapoor: a tryst of a different kind!
|
Mohan Kapoor gained instant telly stardom
with the show he hosted for Zee TV, Saap
Seendi (1996) and was last seen on television
in Star Plus' Kaahin Kissii Roz and
Zee's Kittie Party.
On Wednesday, at a media launch shoot in
Mumbai's Film City, he did a superb job,
making the contestant feel at home, teasing,
coaxing, advising, ridiculing and sometimes
flirting in a way that made him and the
show an instant hit with the audience.
Sample this.
Mohan Kapoor as the voice over says: Choose
the five actresses who have been kissed
by Emraan Hashmi on screen?
When the contestant pondered over the answer,
Kapoor added in a rather mischievous tone,
something like, "You can leave out
the ones he did in real life!"
The one great thing about the actor's voice
is that it's not formal. Kapoor adopts a
very conversational tone that is soothing,
yet stern. Simple intonations made the viewers,
(consisting of seasoned journalits) react
to his voice and that's a good sign.
Contrary to Synergy's KBC, where
the superstar anchor made all the difference,
here the star presence will be restricted
to the contestants present in the studio.
So, in more ways than one, the show will
depend on Kapoor's ability to not only deliever
wise cracks, but to do it at the opportune
moment as well. On his ability to draw out
the person successsfully out of his shell
and show his true colours will depend the
success of the show itself. Although, there
are sure to be written scripts for Kapoor,
what was most impressive was his impromptu
one liners that kept the audience engaged
in the proceedings of the show.
No one seems to be ready to talk about
Kapoor's contribution to the show yet, but
surely there seems to be something big in
the offing!
