Angad Bedi is the chosen one to play Prithvi, the main lead in Sagar Arts' new period drama titled Legend of Prithvi for Star Plus.

The cricketer turned model turned actor is trained in acting, body language and voice modulation.

Angad, son of ex spinner, Bishen Singh Bedi was last seen showcasing his culinary skills in Star One's Cook Na Kaho. He has also flirted with Bollywood in the film Kaya Taran based on the Sikh riots.

" I play an Indian warrior. The show is based on Prithvi Raj Chauhan's life and the wars he had waged. Prithvi is a very challenging role, it has a Braveheart and Kingdoms of Heaven kind of look. This is probably the biggest show that Star Plus has ever done. I have a very stylised,different and contemporary look. I auditoned for the show like many others before going to England for a cricket match and got selected in the look test," says Angad who shifted base to Mumbai two years back. Angad plans to act in commercial cinema post Legend of Prithvi.

Angad started shooting for the show a month earlier in Baroda. Besides that he's also starting an Indo-cricket school with his father in Delhi and has got two English film offers in his kitty.

"We spent four months looking for the perfect guy who could play Prithvi. After all Prithvi is the greatest bhumiputra born ever in India. Somewhere we feel Angad has been the correct choice to play the part as he has the perfect body structure and emotions of Prithvi," says producer, Prem Sagar.

Angad in Star One's Cook Na Kaho

He adds, " Prithvi is a spectacular show with royal palaces, throwns, action, valour, love story and emotions thrown in. It has been Dr Ramanand Sagar's dream project and we have been working on it since 1996. We have shot it in our 40 acre Sagar film city in Baroda where a huge palace has been set up costing a crore and a half."

Legend of Prithvi has an interesting star cast which includes Jas Arora (Prithvi's father), Nirmal Pandey (plays Mohamad Ghori), Karpuri Devi (plays Prithvi's mother) Vishnu Kapoor, Bengamin Gilani, Khush Sharma.
Legend of Prithvi is a daily show with a primetime slot on Star Plus and has been directed by Amrit and Shakti Sagar. The sets have been designed by Omang Kumar and Mukesh Kakola has done the art direction. The show is expected to be launched in mid May.
