That's
like my mom! We often come across such one-liners
from people around when they see their beloved
mothers on their most typical but perhaps
the most expected behaviour! It's the World's
International Just Like Your Mom's Day on
6 April, and we quizzed our telly stars
to tell us that one particular quirk that
makes them go, "that's my mom!"
Riya
V Anandwala speaks to
them.

My mom is an animal lover! If she sees
a puppy on the road shivering to death,
she'll remove her shawl and cover the puppy
with it. She has a thing for animals. She
was a non vegetarian, but when she saw something
on TV about not killing animals, she gave
it up. She is not that caring about human
beings, but she is all out for animals.

What a weird day??? Well if that's the
case, then my mom is weird too. Well, not
really, but there's one thing about her
which is probably what all moms do!
If someone asks her about the time, and
if it's 4.00, she'll say it's 4.30.pm. I
don't know why she does that and I assume
it's a Punjabi trait. And otherwise she
is a little self contradictory too. For
instance, if she says a 'no' for something
and I do it, she says, 'why did you do it?'
And when she says, 'yes' for something,
and I do it, then again she'll say 'why
did you do it?' At the end of the day, the
person is confused as to what to do?

There is one thing about her which might
just sound common, but in reality is not!
She loves cooking, like any and every mother
does. But, she can cook at any hour of the
day. Many a times, my friends land up at
my house in Delhi, when I am in Mumbai and
even if they are 15 of them, she will cook
for them and make them feel at home. She
loves the fact that people come to our place
and she gets a chance to serve them!

Well, there is definitely one thing that
reminds me of my mom. If she opens the fridge
and finds out that the milk tastes sour,
she'll say, "Hey, taste this, it's
tasting sour," and we go like, 'when
it's tasting sour, why do you want us to
taste it?' So that's typical of my mom.
Another thing which I can recall about my
mother is that she keeps saying that you
are good for nothing, tera kuch nahin
ho sakta.

There are so many! But one thing which
I fail to understand is my mother's typical
habit of wanting me to inaugurate anything
and everything. She stays in Delhi, and
for instance, she called me and said, "Amrudh
ke pedh pe naye amrudh lage hain, tum aake
tod do." So basically she expects
me to come to Delhi whenever she buys something
new, or if something new is happening there
and be the first one to inaugurate it, otherwise
she won't even touch it! Now that's not
wired, but very weird!!!
