The
middle class girl Vaidehi who stole
hearts with her innocence and who was trapped
into marrying a wealthy but impotent Aryan
Jaisingh, will soon bid adieu by the end
of this month. This Sony show, which was
launched with huge fanfare under Aroona
Irani's AK Films, seemed quite promising
but was unable to hook the audience for
long.
It is learnt that shifting the serial from
its original primetime slot of once a week
on Tuesdays to a daily soap aired in the
11pm slot witnessed a fall in the TRP ratings.
Channel Head of Sony TV, Sandip Sikand
confirms, "Yes, Vaidehi is going
off air from 28th December. It did not garner
expected TRPs. The story comes to a logical
conclusion. We had the option of either
stretching it by introducing a new track
but we felt it was better to tow the story
line as we did not want to drag or hamper
with the original script."
Pallavi Kulkarni aka Vaidehi informs,
"It is going off air. I guess it is
because of its 11pm slotting, after Bigg
Boss telecast, normally when repeat
telecasts are aired that did not go well
with the viewers."

Aroona Irani, the producer of Vaidehi,
and who also essays the role of the protagonist's
ma-in-law, was unavailable for comment.
But her blue-eyed boy Sachin Sharma, whose
portrayal of Aryan Jaisingh, was much appreciated
by all, feels, "It was mind blowing
to work with Aroonaji. Vaidehi was
excellent that even after it is over, people
will remember it as a serial with good story
content. We actors did go through the entire
gamut of story-telling and I am glad it's
end is not abrupt and that it will wind
up with a logical ending."
So now what's next in its time slot? Sandip
says, "We still have Bigg Boss,
so after that ends, we will think about
it as we have quite a few fictions coming
up."
Are the actors disappointed at Vaidehi
going off air? Pallavi expresses her
wishes for more good work in the coming
year while Sachin is more vocal about it
when he says, "I am in no mood to take
a break. Once Vaidehi ends, I will
look into the offers on hand."
Like they say, all good things must come
to an end, but then there is a beginning
for better things waiting on the wings!
