This
show has had eight crore calls in over 133
episodes! Dial One aur Jeeto...oops!
should we say Dial One Ladies first
is all set to take a season break tentatively
from 2 March 2006.
Rohit Roy's initiation into the show thus
will be a temporary affair lasting 16 episodes
starting 26 January.
Confirming this, Sahara One COO Purnendu
Bose says that the break will be a short
term affair and the show will be back with
a bang in the second season. "Dial
One...is a show that was launched primarily
with the aim of connecting with the viewers.
And as it is with shows like this, there
is always the need for a break to sustain
viewer participation and interest,"
points out Bose.
Star One has used this format quite successfully
with popular shows like Instant Khichadi
and The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.
Shows like KBC (Star Plus) and Indian
Idol (Sony) have also been more or less
as successful as their predecessors.
The show that generated phenomenal response
of 41 lakh callers in the first four
days itself (after its launch on 7 February
2005), has since then, seen a lot of changes.
First, it got a major face lift end of June
last year and also moved to a multi camera
set up in a larger set in Mumbai's Film
City. This was also the time when the it
went from being half hour to an hour long
show (8:00 pm -9:00 pm, Mon-Thurs). Then,
by September the original host, Aman Verma
was replaced by Shekhar Suman and now just
before a season wrap up, Rohit Roy has been
invited to do a cameo for 16 episodes and
now, since the show is targetting housewives,
it's will air at 10:00 pm.
