Is Ekta
watching too much of Desperate
Housewives?
|
|
Now don't get us wrong. Everyone,
and that means 90 per cent of the
TV industry in India, is inspired
these days by the firang soaps
.
But we thought a slick and smart production
house like Balaji Telefilms with its
horde of talented writers would not
resort to picking ideas from say,
a Desperate Housewives. Thursday's
episode of Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa
left us with a distinct sense of deja
vu.
Kunal (Eijaz Khan) who just entered
the plot, has a dog Oscar, who gets
after Nimmo, and while licking her
face, accidentally swallows her earring.
The dog chokes on the trinket, Kunal
rushes him to the hospital, but is
seething about the person who made
his precious dog suffer.
Now, for those who caught Desperate
Housewives' first season, will
recall a similar incident occurred
with Susan (a very Nimmo like fallible
character, again) while she's at beau
Mike's place, in the presence of Edie.
Mike's liking for Susan turns into
temporary dislike, something we suspect
the Nimmo... track will make
Kunal do too.
What next? A murder and a cover-up
job? We wouldn't be too surprised.

Kid speak!
|
|
Deven Bhojani's act as the autistic
Gattu in Star Plus' Ba Bahoo aur
Baby has quite a fan following
amongst kids! But the actor was caught
completely off gaurd with the reaction
that he got for one particular scene.
The scene in question showed Gattu
going to a vendor to buy pav bhaji
for himself...but he couldn't get
it because he had no money!
This moved his young fans to such
an extent that they started saving
money to pay for his lunch. There
was a day not so long ago when the
actor was given some money that the
kids had saved up from their pocket
money! But the actor was mighty surprised
when his five year old daughter too
reacted in a similar fashion.
"Just as I was leaving for the
shoot the next day (the day after
the episode was aired) my daughter
called out from the terrace and asked
me if was carrying my wallet, worried
that I might again be deprived of
lunch!" laughed Deven.
That's the way kids are...they say
it as it is!

Sujata's
a bauble buff!
|
|
Jewelry could well be Sujata Mehta's
middle name. It's almost her signature
tune, that she plays at any event
she graces! The lady, best remembered
for her performance in Doordarshan's
Shrikant two decades ago, flaunts
a wide variety of baubles at every
do, and with style. At the recent
launch party of Balaji Telefilms'
Kyaa Hoga Nimmo Kaa, where
she plays the mother's character,
Sujata was turned out in a becoming
white ensemble, embellished with loads
of silver jewelry, rings being her
speciality.
"I love to wear jewelry. I get
it done from Saurashtra and have been
doing so for many years now. I have
these certain bangles which I have
got made in different colours to match
my clothes. In fact, when I go abroad,
the first thing I do is get myself
some exotic jewelry pieces,"
says the stylish Sujata, who is genuinely
fond of dressing up and looking good.
To think that the lady plays a fashion
designer in Nimmo who wants
to be a Page 3 socialite, we'd say
she's landed herself the right job!

Remembering
Kuljeet
|
|
Kuljeet Randhawa's presence it would
appear, continues to permeate the
small screen more than a month after
her alleged suicide,...and as was
the case before her untimely death,
she's a pleasure to watch on screen.
The lady must have completed a few
modeling assignments after Sahara
One's Kohinoor wound up last
year, but these are seeing the light
of day only now. Just saw the Kohinoor
and Special Squad star in an
advertisement for power switches,
released recently on the tube. The
lady looked relaxed and completely
at ease as she sat on a sofa surrounded
by her 'family'! In something that's
an irony of sorts, the lady signs
off in the ad saying, "Finally
I have my peace of mind!"
