Model
turned actor Mohit Malik got his first break
on the small screen in Star Plus's MIlli.
Later this twenty three year old managed
to grab a meaty role in Zee's rustic Jab
Love Hua.
Recently Mohit's character Vir in Betiyaan
Apni Ya Paraya Dhan has been axed but the
good looking actor is riding high on his
Sikander act in Durgesh Nandini.
In a candid chat with Tellychakkar.com,
Mohit gets talking about the way his role
in Durgesh Nandini is shaping up, his passions
and his take on the tv industry
How do you look
back at your career so far?
I started off my career as a model. Some
of my important assignments were Haywards
5000, Hero Honda and Reliance. After about
seven months in Mumbai, I managed to get
a role in Milli. It was a negative character
called Ony and somehow after this there
was no looking back.
Will your character
in Betiyaan be revived?
The production house has called me back.
But right now I don't have time as I am
shooting for Durgesh Nandini for more than
twenty five days month.
What is so special
about Durgesh Nandini?
My character is called Sikander. It's like
Hrithik Roshan of Dhoom 2. I get to appear
in different get ups and con people. But
as the story unfolds, viewers will get to
know that Sikander has a very clean heart.
How is Rinku Ghosh
as a co-star?
She's a lovely co-star and an amazing actress.
It's just been three days that we have been
shooting together. Rinku Ghosh will eventually
expose my character.
How do you go about
choosing your shows. Do you believe that
a particular show on a channel can help
you boost up your popularity?
Channel's do matter, but my first criterion
of selecting the project is my role.
What kind of roles
you are looking for?
I would like to do comedy for a change.

Do you relate
to saas bahu shows?
I don't relate to them and I have never
worked in any but that is what sells. If
a saas bahu show offers me a good author
backed roll, I will do it.
What are your passions
other than acting?
I am very passionate about the game of cricket.
I am into Anubhav Sinha's team. We play
matches on weekends.
What do you watch
on television?
I love to watch Virrudh. It's an outstanding
show; also I think Vikram Gokhale has done
a great job in the show.
Do you want to
act in films?
Yes
Don't you feel TV actors are just not accepted
in films?
I don't agree. I feel TV actors are bigger
than the film stars. One connects with the
audiences' on a daily basis. TV actors get
massive exposure and publicity. TV is a
big business.
What's Mohit
Malik like in real life?
I think, I am lazy yet hard working. I am
an introvert.
Tell us a little
about your family?
My parents live in Delhi. I have an older
brother also. We also own a restaurant called
MB (Malik Brothers) for the last three years
in Delhi.
