Miss
India Earth 2001 -
Shamita Singha is a celebrated
name in the fashion arena. These days this
saucy supermodel is busy anchoring Zoom's
Maximum Style, a one stop shop for
being stylish. So let's quiz this sexy siren
on her fashion quotient.
My style mantra
For me it is comfort that adds a feel good
factor. I am most at ease in western attire
and cocktail dresses for formal functions.
For casual wear I prefer a pair of jeans
and a top. Teaming it with funky bangles
and long bling earrings gives it a swish
look. Good shoes are also essential to complete
one's style statement.
Accessories galore
I am a total accessory person - be it earrings,
bags or bracelets. I prefer big chunky bling
earrings. Bags according to me add a lot
to your outfit. A sling bag is most comfortable
for all daily travel where as a clutch can
make your outfit look classy at a formal
do or a night out. I never compromise or
budget on accessories; they can make or
mar a dress.
Scent of a woman
I am not a flowery or fruity fragrance person.
I prefer wearing a woody, musky or a vanilla
aroma. My favourite brands are Clinique,
Armani 'She' and 'He'. I don't care if it
a man's perfume.
Sexiest Indian
outfit
A sari hands down, even though I prefer
to wear a tight churidaar and a short kurta
for an occasion. With those nine yards it
is mandatory to know how to art to carry
it.
Fave designers
I like so many but I will zero on three.
A) Aki Narula for his crazy designs. He
is completely experimental; he can mix three
fabrics and come up with something adorable.
B) Gaurav Gupta for he is so wacky and funky
designs, he is very international. C) Surily
Goel, who makes you feel like a woman, she
brings out one's femininity. She designs
clothes only to make you look sexier!
Fave international
brands
It's Christian Dior. Many brands have been
launched in India.
Channel too has a good name but it's also
highly priced, they should market it moderately.
The booming lingerie
market
Lingerie is in India because there is a
market for it. With the masses it may not
get popular but there is a niche population
of broad-minded, well travelled people who
need to dress well inside to feel good on
the outside. I feel India has a long way
to go even though we have come a mile in
terms of fashion. Lingerie brands like Zara
will do well in India as it is economic
on the wallet; the same goes for Morgan.
Christian Dior will definitely do well for
its comfort fits and variety in fabrics
and styles.
Me and Maximum
Style
There are few people who understand fashion
as acutely as the top model do. Most of
them do not have the confidence or the diction
for the job. Fortunately I do have a good
command over the language and diction which
are prerequisites for an anchor.
