Rakhi is not a mere `thread' sisters tie on the wrists of brothers but it symbolises a sacred bond between the two. A bandhan which establishes love and affection between the siblings with the noblest of human emotions.

For a brother, a sister can be his closest friend, the one he loves, and vice versa. With the D day round the corner, we asked some of our telly actors about their childhood memories, plans for the day and what they wish to gift their beloved sisters.

Shaan:

Rakshabandhan to me: It's definitely a special occasion for me as one gets to celebrate the beautiful brother-sister relationship.

Childhood memories: Both me and Sagarika used to wear new clothes on this occasion. My mom used to make special sweets and food for us.

D-Day plans: I'll take Sagarika's family out for a quite dinner.

Special gift for her: This time it will be a special occasion as Sagarika's family is shifting to London. So, I'll gift her something unique and memorable. It has to be jewellery as she loves it.

Bhaktiyaar Irani

Rakshabandhan to me : Delnaaz and me have some special memories for the day. During my college days, I was a typical Kanjoos but now my sis asks me for the most expensive gifts. So, I become one Kangaal on this day.

Childhood memories: Delnaaz was very particular about wearing traditional clothes and I used to wear kurta-payjama. It was more of a family gathering as most of our cousins used to visit us.

D-Day plans: No plans. I'll be shooting for my play the whole day but will make sure to take her out for dinner.

Special gift for her: I've got a make-up kit for her as she has asked me for it.

Sumeet Sachdev

Rakshabandhan to me: A day just for brothers and sisters.

Childhood memories: My dad used to take all of us (my cousins) for a picnic.

D-Day plans: Nothing much as my sister is in New Delhi. Either she will visit me in Mumbai or else I'll take out time from my busy schedule to visit her in Delhi.

Special gift for her: Nothing as she's not fond of gifts. I'll take her out for shopping and let her buy whatever she wants.

Yash Tonk

Rakshabandhan to you: A bond of love and affection.

Childhood memories: After tying rakhi my sister used to make me eat a lot of sweets. I still annoy her for that.

D-Day plans: My sis is in Haryana but is coming down to Mumbai. I am planning to take her out for Mumbai Darshan.

Special gift for her: I always prefer giving her cash so she can buy whatever she wants. This time too, it'll be the same.
