Mythologicals
and fantasies/costume dramas have always
ruled the hearts and minds of Indian television
viewers, right from the time of Ramayana
or Chandrakanta.
And now the maker of Chandrakanta
has done it again, with his new costume
drama Chandramukhi. Sunil Agnihotri
who has once again opted for the national
channel DD One, has come top among Doordarshan
viewers in its third week of telecast.
Agnihotri told tellychakkar that he had
reason to celebrate as "all my previous
shows from Chandrakanta to Yug
to Betal Pachisee and Jai Ganesha
have maintained the top three positions.
My latest show Chandramukhi began
after a hiatus of almost five to six years,
but I have managed to prove that such serials
still work with the audiences. We are second
only to cricket, which is like religion
to Indians."
Chandramukhi received a TVR of 22.3 on
11 November among all homes not having cable
or satellite connections. Even in all TV
homes, Chandramukhi was the number
one show in serials, second only to cricket
on DD1. In all TV homes, it received a TVR
of 5.5 in the week 11 November 2007 to 17
November, according to TAM People Meter.
Following its popularity in the Tuesday
22:00 hrs slot, DD1 has commenced a repeat
telecast of the serial on Sunday mornings
from 09:30 hrs.
Shot on outdoor locations like Kulu Manali,
Raj Pipla and Mahableshwar, Chandramukhi
is a huge costume fantasy with a huge starcast
that includes Deepak Parashar, Natasha Sinha,
Krutika Desai, Mamik, Sachin Khurana, Nishigandha
Wad, Amita Nagia, Goga Kapoor, Shiva, Sanjiva,
Raja Chaudhray, Ram Mohan, Vinod Kapoor,
Rita Jagtiani, Dinesh Hingoo, Ria Walia,
Gunjan Pant, Mahindra Ghule, Manish Sharma,
Savi Juneja, Yogesh, Anwar Fatehan, Jai
Prakash, Shandar Amrohi and Vindu Dara Singh.
Conceived and directed by Sunil Agnihotri,
Chandramukhi is produced by Applause
Entertainment.
