Noodle
strap, Mandira Bedi will once again co-anchor
Extra Innings on SET for the upcoming
ICC cricket world cup in West Indies with
Charu Sharma. Mandira surely knows her cricket
bit quite seriously and says " It really
hurts when people think that just because
I dress glam, I am a dumb bimbette, who
has no knowledge of the gentleman's game."
To prove the point, the cute host talks
in detail about the strength and weakness
of all the major teams. She says, "Till
a few days back we were all under the impression
that Australia would easily lift the crown
for the third time in a row. But the events
of past 10 days have changed that perception.
No body could have imagined that the champions
would be humiliated not once but five times
in a row by teams like England and New Zealand.
When asked about the upcoming world cup
series, she says, " I think West Indies
will surely enjoy home ground advantage,
Sri Lanka is in a good form notwithstanding
their recent defeat to India. Pakistan led
by Inzy can always be trusted to throw up
a surprise or two, while South Africa are
now world number one, displacing Australia
for the first time for years."
Mandy believes that the Indian team has
enough potential to reach the finals, if
not win it. She further adds, "Our
current squad has the right mix of youth
and experience. Sreesanth's and Zaheer's
class bowling on the bouncy pitches will
be a huge plus. But, we will still continue
to rely on our batting to win games. Sachin,
Saurav and Dhoni will have to click big
time".
Mandira is also the brand ambassador of
the women cricket team in India. She hopes
that our team should get more practice matches
before the world cup to be really prepared
for the big event.
The cute host, who will adorn multi coloured
hep cricket themed sarees from Satya Paul
wishes the" men in blue" the best
of luck. And hopes that Dravid and the boys
will surely repeat the epic feat, Kapil
pajee had pulled of way back in 1983.
