Kruttika
Desai best remembered from the DD days for
Chandrakanta and A Mouth Full
Of Sky has come a long way but still
awaits better work than what she is getting
offered on television today. The actor of
yester years is
Kruttika
Desai: No run of the mill stuff for
me!

playing the conniving aunt in Sahara One's
Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye and has a Gujrati
play (To Karo Shri Ganesh) which
has recently completed thirty shows. But
not many know that Kruttika also keeps herself
busy with Akanksha (an NGO) where
in she teaches dramatics to about one hundred
and fifty kids (within the age group of
fife to fifteen years of age).
"I take weekend classes for fifty kids
from Akanksha to begin with but end up having
one hundred and fifty. At the end of the
year, we put up a musical play which is
choreographed by Shiamak Davar. The play
has been written and directed by Shaheen
Mistry and myself," says Kruttika who
has been associated with the NGO for the
past three years.
The pretty actor's teenage daughter studies
in River Dale boarding school near Pune
which is why she prefers to keep herself
busy with as much work as possible. After
getting rave reviews for her performance
in Tumhari Disha and Aisa Des
Hai Mera, what made the actor take up
Kuch Apne Kuch Paraye?
"I play this aunt who isn't married
and lives with her brother and five sons.
She is close to the sons but can't stand
the sister in law. So far, it has been a
pleasant experience shooting for the show
but then eventually I am looking forward
to better work than what I am doing,"
points out the actor adding "But in
the Gujrati play, I play this woman who
doesn't have children and how she tries
to find her child in her sister-in-laws
child but realises its futile as its not
her baby. There's Shilpa Talaskar and Sachin
in the show and we will be traveling to
Gujrat, Dubai and USA.
Hope the talented actor gets her due and
more quality work soon enough...
