Catch the exclusive limited series on Star Movies


This Thursday, Star Movies takes you into another journey into the west as it presents an exclusive mini series which was "The most Emmy-nominated Program of the Year" in the United States for securing 16 Emmy nominations in 2005. Starring Matthew Settle, Josh Brolin, Tonantzin Carmelo and Gary Busey, tune in to "Into the West."

Into the West is a 2005 mini series produced by Steven Spielberg and Dreamworks, with six episodes of two hours each. An epic tale of two figures during the American colonization of the west, one white and the other Native American. Jacob Wheeler leaves his dull life behind to strike out west, while Loved By the Buffalo faces his destiny to try to fight a prophecy that his people will be wiped out by the settlers. Jacob marries Loved By the Buffalo's sister Thunder Heart Woman, uniting the two families while around them relations between the two races crumble. The mini series begins in the 1820s and is told mainly through the third person narration of Jacob Wheeler (Matthew Settle) and Loved By the Buffalo (Joseph M. Marshall III), although episodes outside the direct observation of both protagonists are also shown. The plot follows the story of two families, one white American, one Native American, as their lives become mingled through the momentous events of American expansion.


The story intertwines real and fictional characters and events spanning the period of expansion of the United States in the American West, from 1825 to 1890. The show has a large cast, with about 250 speaking parts. The series features well known performers including Wes Studi, Irene Bedard, Russell Means, Graham Greene, Raoul Trujillo, Gordon Tootoosis, Michael Spears, Lance Henriksen, Simon Baker, Gil Birmingham and Sheila Tousey.
