March is the red letter day for the celebration
of womanhood - of liberty, equality, freedom
and justice.
Lets celebrate the anniversary of this momentous
day by asking some of the eminent TV personalities,
who they feel is a woman of substance, a
phenomena they look up to.
Renuka Shahane
I admire my mother Shanta Gokhale. She's
a journalist and has balanced home and her
career very efficiently, giving me and my
brother the best of everything and installing
the right values in us. I don't admire any
public figure in particular.
Apara Mehta
I hold Mother Teresa in high esteem. The
kind of work she has done is unbelievable
and no one could second her. It would have
been a dream come true to meet her if she
was alive. She lived a selfless life, has
been a real mother to the needy. She truly
symbolizes a woman.
Manasi Joshi Roy
I basically admire all women who manage
home and work with perfect ease. I myself
am doing so. Talking about someone in particular,
it's my mom Usha Joshi who is a perfect
woman for me. She has brought us very well,
has managed home and career perfectly and
that is quite an achievement. It is not
easy to manage everything simultaneously
for any woman. I am a reflection of my mom
and trying to manage all areas of life,
personal as well as professional, with precision
and create a balance.
Shwetta Kawaatra
My mother Mrs. Vinita Kawaatra is someone
whom I admire the most. She is strong minded
and independent. She is also a director
of a company called Oriflame. I have got
the values from her. I can't relate to people
I don't know so no question of taking anyone
else's name.
Moulli Ganguly
I admire my grandmother for all what she
did for her daughter (my mother) and granddaughter
(that's me). She was an all rounder. It
was difficult in those times to manage home
and career for a woman. In those days the
concept of helpers like today didn't exist.
I also admire Kiran Bedi for setting a trend
in a new field which opened so many opportunities
for women. She believed in her dreams and
executed them, not everyone can do that.
I also admire Sonia Gandhi. I liked her
even before she entered politics as she
lived a life of dignity. She has survived
everything calmly. I would love to live
a life like these women.
Shonali Malhotra Sonii
It's Rakhi Sawant for her guts and honesty.
She is very straight forward and honest.
I like the way she conducts herself. I have
met her at my gym and we share the same
trainer. I also admire Angilina Joe, not
for looks but for her attitude and responsibility
towards adopting children. Sushmita Sen
too is in the list for making giving Reenee
a beautiful life and facing the society
with ease. I would love to do something
like that in future and for that I have
to be self-sufficient in every sense of
the word.
