METRO
- this word instantly conjures up images
of a concrete jungle, crowded streets, congested
roads, hectic pace where people are constantly
striving to achieve their ends at any cost,
chasing their dreams and trying to fulfill
them even if they have to sacrifice their
relationships and have hardly any time for
emotions or sentiments.
This is what director Anurag Basu's movie
Metro, which is running to full house in
the city, depicts. GITA HARI finds out from
telestars how much water does this notion
holds.
HITEN TEJWANI
:
I don't agree with what is being portrayed
in the movie though I haven't seen the movie.
Some overambitious people may behave badly
with their spouses or trample upon relationships.
Otherwise, generally everyone is caring
and sensitive towards their family and relationships.
What if I am offered to work elsewhere at
an exorbitant price? I will definitely accept
the offer but I will make sure that my wife
is by my side.
JAYATI BHATIA
:
I have not seen the film yet. It's my friend
Anurag Basu's film and it's quite true.
I have been in Mumbai for the past 11 years
and even if you want to take time out for
family, there is none, at least in the industry
which I am associated with. There is no
place for relationships. From Sunday to
Saturday, everyday is the same - hectic
shooting hours And erratic schedules.
My husband does get upset because when
he wants to say something to me, I have
just come after doing an 18-hour shift and
am too tired to lend him an ear. One has
to sacrifice if one has to survive in this
world.
RONIT ROY :
Honestly, I don't know about how people
think and treat their relationships. I live
in a very small world of my immediate family
of 6 people only. Whatever I do, I do it
to please them and as long as they are happy,
I don't care about anything else. I guess
that sums up my attitude towards my relationships.
SHONALI NAGRANI
:
I think it is true only to some extent.
There are still a majority of families who
have not forgotten or forsaken their values
to fulfill their ambition. You are working
and earning to survive and to survive you
need love and relationship.
Yes, there are people have no feelings
and don't think twice before trampling upon
their relationships. After all they have
to spice up the movie, so you find extreme
cases. Even in Madhur Bhandarkar films,
there are these extreme scenarios. Everyone
is not like that.
