When opportunity knocked on her door she opened the door wide. Abigail, the 15-year-old who is set to make her debut on television with Ekta Kapoor's show Kuch Dil Mein Hai is smarter than her 15 years.

The soft-spoken Abigail, a girl of few words talks about life so far in a Q n A with Mayur Lookhar.


What does the name Abigail mean?
Abigail is a Greek word which means father's pride.

For a 15-year-old, what is it like to enter Tellywood?
It's difficult for me to put it in words but all I can say is that it's a huge break for me.
I was totally shocked when I was offered this role.

How did you bag the role in Kya Dill Mein Hai?
Well, Balaji had conducted an audition at St.Xavier's College. I never aspired to be an actress. It was only at the insistence of my friends that I chose to go. To my utmost surprise, I cleared the test. And the serial was offered to me.

Have you met Ekta Kapoor? What is your opinion about her?
Yes, I did meet her once. Well, it's too early to pass a judgment on her as we've met just once; however, she comes across as a very nice person.

It was reported that you sobbed after learning that Ekta wasn't impressed with your acting. Is that true?
Yes, I did cry but it had nothing to do with Ekta. There were other reasons which I wouldn't like to disclose.

Do you watch soaps?
I've grown up watching Ekta's shows such as Kasautii Zindagi Kay, Kasamh Se. Most of the Balaji shows are nice and they appeal to viewers. However, I haven't been able to catch any of them since I've started to shoot for my show.

How much influence has your step father Vijay Pande had on your career?
(Pande is the director of Saat Phere)
He's been the guiding force in my life. He's always there to encourage me. In fact, whatever, I've achieved now is entirely because of him. I didn't aspire to be an actress and he too never had such expectations from me. All he ever wanted is for me to be happy in life.

How do you intend to balance time between work and studies?
It's difficult to manage both. However, I have no intention of quitting studies. It will not be possible for me to attend college, so I'll be studying through correspondence. As it is I study only when the exams are near.

Have you set any academic goals for yourself?
Not really. I want to complete my graduation in Arts. Currently, I'm doing my F.Y. BA from Sophia's college. I haven't thought of higher studies as yet.

What are your likes and dislikes?
I don't have any particular dislikes. I'm a very friendly person who gels well with everyone.

How do you chill out?
Well, I'm a movie buff who likes to catch all the latest flicks. Hrithik Roshan is my favourite actor. The last film that I saw was Om Shanti Om. I 'm eagerly awaiting the release of Jodha Akbar.
