Kavita
Kapoor is quite happy to be back in Yes
Boss. She had been replaced by Sonia
Kapoor, when this Sab TV show had returned
after the World Cup break. "Yes, it's
a good feeling to return home," she
says.
So what had gone wrong in the first place?
"I really don't know, for neither the
production house, nor my co-stars, had any
problems with me. In fact, they all were
very upset with the decision and tried their
best to convince the channel. Unfortunately
Sab at that time was under some guys who
wanted to change everything. Hence, I was
made the scapegoat." She furthur adds,
"This decision to replace me made no
sense. You only go for changes if things
don't work out. Why upset the apple cart
unnecessarily. Yes Boss has been the main
Sab property for years."
Tell her that Sonia Kapoor could never
fit into the role and she says, "I
hold no grudges against her. But you've
got to understand that it's never easy to
get into the skin of somebody else's character.
I had made Meera and gave her all her characteristics.
What was worse was that they changed the
basic theme of the story (add company to
news channel). The emphasis shifted from
the main 3 characters to new elements. This
did not work, period.
You think the dropping TRPs forced the
channel to rectify its mistake? "I
don't know, but it great to be back. In
fact, a change in the Sab team may also
be responsible for my return.
Kavita wants the channel to promote her
and Delnaz's (yup even she is back) home
coming in a big way. This is needed to bring
back the lost viewership, she argues. "I
am a bit worried about the Friday 8 pm slot,
for it clashes with Nach Baliye.
"It would be better if the channel
shifted it to a later slot. This should
not be difficult for them as they anyway
keep shifting our timing, she jokes.
